My debut blog!

Hi All,

Wow, my debut blog, I think that officially makes me a blogger!

It’s going to be a year on Monday since I joined NRAS and how quickly time has flown by! I must admit I didn’t know anything about NRAS or RA before I started but now have a much better understanding of RA and just can’t help spreading the word about NRAS everywhere I go!

My role here at NRAS is ‘Publications and Information Assistant’ which mainly involves sending out all the publications that are ordered over the phone, online and in the post. Since I have been at NRAS I have sent out over 50,000 publications to members, supporters, healthcare professionals and to people who phone the helpline. It is fantastic that we are reaching out to so many people, so please keep on ordering!

Unfortunately at the moment, due to updating and reprinting, a few of our publications are currently unavailable, but rest assured your request is being held and the booklets will be sent out to you once they become available. The ‘Newly Diagnosed’ booklet has also just become available after being reprinted and we will be sending them out to those who ordered them as soon as possible.

During my first year at NRAS, I had the opportunity to attend a conference for the new NRAS Group Co-ordinators which was held in September. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and I hope that those who came along found it as interesting as I did.

I also had the opportunity to attend the NRAS WorkWise Workshop in Reading in September, one of the many workshops around the country set up to help people with RA in their working lives. I found it extremely interesting and informative; it was a pleasure to meet all the attendees.

Final word before I head off - next year we’re celebrating our 10th year anniversary, a credit to Ailsa and NRAS, and as part of the celebrations I personally will be doing my bit and have given my word to Fundraising that I will be doing a skydive in May (help!), along with a few other brave members of the NRAS team. We are still looking for other daring people to make the team up to 10 (notice the theme!), so if you fancy joining us and jumping out of a plane to celebrate 10 years of NRAS speak to Val in Fundraising.

I really can’t believe it’s been a year at NRAS and it’s that time of year again when everyone is rushing off to buy Christmas presents and getting all prepared for their respective festivities so if I’m not back before then…

Happy Halloween, Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Eid, Happy Diwali, Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas!!!

Best Wishes

Tameena
