Ha Ha Ha. did the dog cop it as well. Lovely feeling isn't it having all that wax on your hands. xxxx

The dog was a bit peckish as he's on a boring dry food regime just now so he would have eaten the lot if I'd let him near enough - that look is his best windsome "where's my treat gone then?"! TTx

Is that your wax therapy?

Hi T

Did you not wrap them in plastic bags? I also cover them with a towel to keep the heat in (over the plastic bag).

Do you not think it leaves your skin so soft and silky to touch?? Better than any hand cream I know of!

Glad you are enjoying the waxing - you don't mention the affect it has on your hands? Are you like me whereby the heat is better than putting them into cold water?

Sci xx

Definitely - I've found it wonderfully soothing and keep it in the studio so I can work then dip then work again! TTx

Hi Tilda, a friend used to gave me a pedicure and feet wax every few weeks, she used to warm a towel to wrap my feet in once the wax was on. It was fantastic I really found it soothing and relaxing.

Best therapy I've found but sadly she got another job and I've not had one since. I think I might find someone to do it again.

Thanks for reminding me. xxx

OK, now you got me! The idea of locating the wax bath on the work bench and dip, work, dip..that is inviting! The reason I haven't been painting is also because my hands lock up and I drop the brush..a brush well loaded with paint and dropped on the surface of your project is not exactly the effect we want!! Fortunatley, they are acrylics and can be cleaned with water before they dry.

The dropping things and fumbling to recover and knocking something else onto the floor which is difficult to pick up if it's smaller than a bread basket(ancient term! ) are all on-going problems with RA in the hands. Does make about any project very frustrating!! :^)

Yes - although I think your experience is a bit different to what I'm saying as I can stitch for long periods mostly without it hurting too much, but it's just that I always pay for it later - like a repetitive strain thing? This is because it's my work not a hobby or therapy so I do it all day when I have a deadline such as exhibition or commission - and rather like any job that over uses certain joints I have to learn to pace it while still getting the work done in time. After years of being a freelance artist I'm finding it really hard to gage what amount I can get away with and how much damage I might do to my finger and wrist joints if I overdo it or have a day of stretching material onto hoops which requires a lot of tugging, I'm just learning on the hoof really by trial and error! TT

My GP friend read the instructions more fully last night and supervised the plastic bag and towel while we chatted - but she couldn't work out any obvious medical reason why this would be theraputic to us - typical doctor huh?! She did say after it had all come off that it might make a great face mask because the skin on my hands looked a soft as a baby's bottom!

I don't really think it makes any difference at all to the RA but it's just lovely and soothing and diverting. Peeling all the wax off the plastic bag was a bit of a trial for my poor fingers afterwards though! To be really honest I think the best thing physically and psychologically for me has been losing weight and regular all over exercise. But I'm lucky enough, with mild-ish RA to be able to do this and if wax bathing helps to make the joints more supple so I can exercise my wrists and fingers better than that's can only be a good thing. I had a wax hand bath for Christmas, it is lovely and soothing when my hands are painful. I am thinking I may dip my feet in!!
