Well I've just made the decision to quit smoking and sort my self out. I've smoked for the last 27ish years and am frankly horrified and terrified in equal measures at the thought of being without cigarettes.
Hopefully I can share the 'what happens next' bit on here.

It's normal to feel quite scared leading up to a quit. Most of us have been there. Once you have actually stopped you will find that the fear goes away and that there really is nothing to be scared of. Quitting is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Try refocusing your fear on the positives that will come from not smoking. I have quit and relapsed 3 times in the last 2 years. Don't know why I keep going back as it doesn't take long to remember why I quit in the first place. Head up, shoulders straight - you got this!
I know the feeling but we have to stay strong. Smoking a cigarette doesn’t help anything or change anything. Smoking outside in the rain or snow is a terrible feeling and you wonder why you would do such a thing. Starting today I’m on my second attempt after being smoke free for 7 months. I’m not going to let that happen again. I suffer from anxiety and that is a trigger for me. Just take it one day at a time or even one hour at a time. Time goes by so fast before you know it you’ll have months behind you. Good luck
