Thanks. I have tried and failed so many times, but this feels different. I'm 100% positive about quitting, rather than resenting what I'm denying myself (as I have done in the past). I've got this 👍

Congratulations. For me the first two weeks were the absolute worst and it got much easier afterwards. Keep it up!

Thanks. Today was the toughest day so far. I had a few strong cravings but it felt good to slap them down. It has also helped to let my work colleagues know I've quit; they have been really supportive and appreciate how much this matters to me. Onwards!

helpmequit A fortnight! Bliss! It's over! Those silly little cravings soon pass and will soon be long forgotten. I liked your comment "I've got this". You have to have that "it's over" decision made in your mind. It really is a mindset. You step over a line and it is done. Not a "quitting smoking" journey of any sort. The journey is over... don't ever start dragging it out. Smoking has left town. It is a mindset. I totally understand why milestones (1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year!) are important for people who have stopped being smokers. But try not to dwell on the "not smoking" too much, do lots of fun stuff, take up a new hobby, buy a new book to read, treat yourself. I stopped dead 12 years and 3 months ago. I stepped over a line and that was it. It is a mindset. If I can do it - seriously - anyone can do it. Keep going - Smoking was NEVER your friend.

Thanks Lanark. Yes, I'm definitely over the line and doing great. Smoking is now 3 weeks behind me and, importantly, behind me forever. I totally agree with your comment on milestones; they are important markers but they should always be more about distance travelled and personal achievement, rather than another destination or target which can add unnecessary pressure at a time when you may least need it.

Thanks for your encouraging words, I hope I can be as helpful to others who have made this life improving, better smelling and financially astute decision.
