i am on day 6 of stopping smoking... joined this group as i have read the support you all show each other and i find this will really help me stay committed
I went to a hypnotist last week and had my last cigarette at 11.55 on way to app. Havent bought a cigarette since,... i am mostly cold turkey but have a nicorette inhalator if i get bad but only taking a few puffs as its rank!
My reasons for giving up
1) my children and our future as a family.. i want to be here to be included as long as i can be
2) now was the itme as i seemed to be smoking more and more... from 10 to 20 a day ... out of breath, chest pains and out of money!!
I always said when a 20 pack got to 5er i would stop but i didnt
3) even my 3 year old has commented that i stink - not the nicest thing to hear but defintely what I NEEDED to hear
i have stopped in the past maybe for a few months but this time i really want to stay stuck so looking forward to having support and also giving others support back

You won't regret coming out of the woodwork and joining. This is such a lovely place. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and as you have already noticed, the peer support is second to none.
Many congratulations on being so close to the end of your first smoke-free week (the first of many I am sure :D). You have such good incentives to stay quit. Won't your family be proud of you!
I know two people who quit permanently using hypnotherapy. If it works it seems to really work.
Anyway, keep posting and let us know how things are going. It's lovely to meet you by the way.
Good to have you aboard. Nearly a week already is brilliant, well done you.
Your reasons are solid gold and I can really relate to number 2.
I think that's why this place works so well. Newbies like you post stuff that helps people like me as it takes us right back to day one and reminds us of the reasons why we quit in the first place.
Hi Denny, welcome aboard, interesting to meet someone whose been hypnotised it obviously seems to be helping you, did naff all for me, not long now until you have the dreaded forts week out of the way there's a social group we have created for March April and May quitters called Spring Army, if your interested in joining with people who are at the same stage as you please do, you go to quick links > social groups > spring arm good luck xx
thanks everyone /.... i have to be honest the hypnotherapy im still not sure if i was hypnotised as such but she did get me thinking about where i would be in the future if i kept on smoking.... this took me to a place i really did not want to be... i want to be part of my families life when they are all growing up and expanding... this place if i kept smoking did not take me there healthy and fit so yeah maybe i was hypnotised maybe not but this visit certainly put things into prospective for me

If it's encouraged you and kept you off the bifters then it's worked whatever it was like you when I had it done I didn't feel I was "under" it certainly has helped lots of people to quit, Ewan macgregor really advocates it on YouTube he tried all other ways and failed so good on you x
