Done

.................

I am not yet able to offer new quitters any hope that this is easy - the only thing keeps me going is knowing that

1. Smoking is not a magic life changer - same rubbish will be there whether I smoke or not

2. There is no such thing as ONE - if I want one and give in, 30 mins later I will want another.....so best be strong for 30 minutes and end up in the same place I would be if I had smoked........in the scheme of life, 30 minutes is but a blink :)

In summary, I am miserable but proud

What a brilliant way of putting it Mina, (number 2) I never thought of it like that, you are right it's so much better to suffer for 30 minutes and be in the same position.... And there definitely isn't any such thing as one despite the numerous and I mean NUMEROUS times my brain has told me that.... Almost at 6 weeks now my friend, and all CT too, I'm really happy for you, you may be miserable but u are right to be proud xx

Hey Mina

First off congrats on 40 days, having read ALL your previous threads and posts I realize what a HUGE BATTLE this has been for you, if memory serves , you quit Jan with a few blips but in an essence have been quit since January?

I admire the way you have stuck to it and you are an inspiration to us "newbies" and here's to the next 💯 days smoke free 😉

I know where you're coming from Mina.

I had read the books, understood the ideas, rationalised it all but still failed to quit.

I joined this forum because statistically you have more chance of quitting if you're a member of a group. I didn't think it would help and didn't post for 6 weeks.

This was me doing the 'I'm doing things properly'

The thing that saved me was NOPE. As you said there is no such thing as one cigarette. Somehow in all my reading I had failed to appreciate the chain and that mystical one cigarette leads to the second one just 30mins later. It did not stop me wanting to smoke it but it did stop me fom actually smoking it. Exactly like you said miserable but proud.

67 days was when it all turned for me. I get the odd pang but mainly I'm glad I don't have to smoke anymore. Just like those books said. I really do feel free and I can't imagine stepping back into that cage.

Hang in there til the scales tip.

Mina,

I never fail to be moved by your posts. You're like Tracey in that you are one of life's natural philosophers. :)

Every time you pick yourself up and move forward I have the impression you're that much tougher, that much more focussed and that much more determined. I really believe you're going to beat this thing. :D

40 days is wonderful (and has a distinctly biblical sound to it!)

Well done on reaching 40 days...another little milestone reached on the journey to freedom. Looking forward to reading that you've got to the half century of days and then onwards and upwards.
