It's really terrible am into 11 weeks of quit, but I just cannot stop eating, have put stone and half on, so so fed up with that. It's such a massive fight for me to keep stopped smoking.

Has an ne got suggestions how to deal with all this?

Thanks fatty tracey:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Hang in there!!

Hi Tracey,

Have you tried swapping some of your snacks for healthier alternatives? That could make a big difference!

I am on Slimming World and find that stuffing my face with fruit, while it doesn't seem much fun at the time compared to junk food, takes the edge off a "hunger pang", which is probably nothing more than boredom.

Another good one is drinking water. Just keep sipping it throughout the day and you should find that you crave snacks less.

Mug Shots are a great, low fat snack. The tomato and herb one is really nice. Also, bachelors Super Rice is another low fat alternative and is more filling than snacking on biscuits, crisps etc.

For the sweet tooth, muller light toffee/vanilla yoghurts are yummy!

I didn't concern myself to much with snacking in the first few months, but decided to start Slimming World a couple of months back once I felt in a better place with not smoking.

Hope this helps! :)

Tracey I too am a serial snacker, and I get snack attacks which come out of nowhere. I mentioned this to my cessation nurse and she advised not to worry too much at this early stage, wait until you are 100% confident in your quit then think about a sensible eating plan and exercise. Don't forget, we've woken up our taste buds together with needing to do something with our chops. I tried the sugar free sweet route at first - not a good idea for me, I was so bloated and windy the OH said I was a bloke in drag  Purleeze, I've never been that ladylike ;) I now bring celery and carrots to much on at work, celery is great, it takes more calories to digest than it contains and as it's full of fibre it fills you up for longer too. I still go a bit mad for chocolate and am quite capable of polishing off a family size bag of teasers, M&M's and minstrels in one sitting, allegedly it contains a feel good chemical similar to what you get when you're being frisky! Personally I would say, as frustrating as it is at the moment, don't let it get to you too much, try to swap the fattening snacks for fruit or crudites and drinking loads of water does help stave off the pangs, but I would rather be curvy than a hacking smelly hag - for now anyway. We can attack the bulge with as much gusto as we attacked smoking once we're in the driving seat.
