Just smoked my last cigarette . It was vile so no looking back with fondness. Not a sacrifice but a relief.i've been smoking 30 a day for the last month after taking 1 puff from an old smoking buddies cigarette( I still don't understand why he asked me to hold it!) Anyway I won't go there , i'm here now, dressed as Rambo, just in case The demon wants a scrap.Taking it 1 hour at a time and climbing the mountain one step at a time. All is not lost YYYAAYYY.

Well done Mash. In future, if your friend asks you to hold his fag, tell him to stick it in his ear.;)

I'll just thro w a bucket of water over him next time I aint going through that again. Smoking is well and truly mashed( I wouldn't like it with sausages though which I'm cooking in a casserole right now , i'm starving. 4 hours into my quit so heres to another 4 , another 4, ad infinitum.

Congratulations .

Hi Mash

Congratulations on quitting again.:)

It's amazing how quickly a relapse can occur. Maybe we are all just like alcoholics - it has to be total abstinence.

What confuses us I think is that I'm sure most of know at least one person that can smoke occasionally - maybe when they drink etc. We would all like to be like that & the temptation to see if we are like that is probably very strong.

Maybe the fact that we had to come onto a forum to help us to quit tells us that we are NOT the type that can be an occasional smoker.

For us all it has to be NOPE. Not One Puff Ever.:(

Well done Mash, this time lets none of us lose the battle, because we will only have to come back to win the war.

Ive always wanted to be one of THOSE smokers but IM not. When it comes to smoking , Its all or nothing for me. The thing is , those occasional smokers that I know all want to stop. but put it off. I'd hate to smoke 2 per day and spend the day looking forward to it , its hardly freedom . Imagine if they had a bereavement or something equally devastating, Would they stick to 2 a day ? I think not . In my experience cigarette consumption goes up and that's when an occasional smoker turns into a chainsmoker . Maybe . I know for me its all or nothing. I would rather be like one of those great people who doesn't smoke, That's the way for me , been there done it and loved it . I wouldn't trust myself on 2 a day! I'd always want another.

Hey Im on day 2 of my quit WOW . finally , its come.

Thanks for your replies everone. Later.

Hi Toyah,Yes I remember you too, Never thought it would happen to me I bet you didn't either. Anyway I have to fess up again. yesterday after almost a full 24 hrs without I bought some tobacco. I was on my lunch break and an overwhelming urge came over me. I only resisted for a minute and then thought oh go on then. Now I wish I hadn't. I'm full of apprehension now about whether I can do it. The addiction seems to become more re-inforced with these failed attempts. Well I know what the trigger was so next time, and there will be one, I will be ready with a mindset of winning . Hope u managed to quit again. I feel like i'm driving around spaggetti junction. Partly because I'm lost and and also because I' afraid of hitting the open road. and living without my little friend my little crutch. Here comes that old song ''should I stay or should I go now''.Methinks more strategic planning is in order. now wheres my pen?
