Welcome Gemzy and well done on getting this far......the best advice I can give you initially is to stick to this forum like glue and post whenever you feel the urge, or just to join in with the banter!
I was the smokiest person my family know and I haven't smoked in 16 months nearly, thanks to the great people on here
I signed up to this site this morning as I need some inspiration!im on day 22 and it seems to be getting harder!
Really struggling when I have a Boozy drink. I've gone cold turkey with the help of Allen Carr.
Look forward to reading everyone's advice.

Hiya Gemzy and welcome
Booze is tricky in the early days, I ended up in a right state sometimes but it does get better!!
Best thing to do is not drink too much at first because alcohol does make fags more attractive, even though they're not in reality
Am very impressed you are going cold turkey, wish I had
Anyway when you're drinking take a straw, lollypop, anything fag shaped and pretend to smoke that. One of my friends used to give me a straw and make me "smoke" that instead which helped!!
Welcome Gem, brilliant news you decided to quit and a massive congratulations for getting to day 22 cold turkey, you have my awe and respect. The best advice I can give is to avoid booze if at all possible, as it has the marvelous ability to make all bad ideas very attractive (not just smoking) if you can't, then carry a dummy fag, I made a rollie out of four filter tips and I "smoked" that when I had an overwhelming urge. Good Luck, keep posting and be determined.
Thanks everyone! How nice to have support! I have eased off on drinking which can't be a bad thing! Also, I've changed my drink so I don't have the association of cider and a fag. Taking one day at a time. I will use the forum as my replacement ciggie!

I've gone the other way, lol.
What you will notice though is that you don't get as bad a hangover, or that manky mouth and throat we all used to have!!
Don't know how much you smoked but it always made me feel rubbish - and since quitting 10 months ago I've only had a couple of proper hangovers which can't be bad!!
This place is fab, it's saved my quit lots of times Use it as muh as you like, for ranting, for help and for showing off how well you're doing!!
I have had a long day at work and am relaxing with a G&T...not doing too badly with the cravings. Reading through posts on her defo helps. Makes me realise I'm not the only one.
