The last two days have been kind of tough. I havent caved in but i, well i dont know how im feeling.

Im not going to smoke but im missing the smelly old things. The buzz i was on for tbe first week has gone and now i feel like im on a long hard slog. I know i wont always feel like this but at the moment i feel as though it will never end.

So here i am at the end if day 12, lets hope that day 13 will find me feeling happier.

Hi Lillie, first of all well done for getting this far, its' not easy, and if it was, there would be no need for forums like these.

I'm abit rubbish at dishing out advice, but what I can sayis to remind yourself of the reasons why you quit

Remember:

You crave more as a smoker-dying for that fag when traveling, when at work, when in a pub! so many areas you cannot smoke-you really have to work hard to be a smoker-to get that fix...remember that feeling?

Remember NEVER having spare change, because you buy those cancer sticks daily for your 'fix'

Remember the way you stank of fags-youor hair, your clothes?

Remember the fear of cancer?

Remember being a smoker and wanting to stop?

Just remember those days Lillie-keep reminding yourself of those awful times when you were an addict-thats what helps me xxx;)

Hi Lillie, I completely understand what you mean about the 2nd week being harder once the novelty wears off, think I pretty much felt the same during that phase too. It does get easier I promise, I know you've probably heard that before many times but it is true, it just doesn't help you much right now! The best advice I can give is just remember the reasons you've stopped, every day! Distract yourself, find other things to do with your time (and money), take one day at a time and congratulate yourself on each one completed, use a non smoking app for smartphones etc, keeping the count of the number of days not smoking and number if cigs not smoked and money saved really is an incentive!!

Keep going, you're at the end of week 2, if you can get through the first 2 weeks you can get through anything!!

Good luck!

Lillie hi,

In my early days I used to spend the craves googling effects of smoking on the body and I tell you some images are pretty graphic ! So every time I had a crave my brain conjured up an image and so far it's worked !

Also tell yourself this...your body is recovering and very clever at renewing itself, if you smoke now even after a week IT WILL HURT... That smoke will sting because the body has had the chance to remind you that it does not like the smoke!
