Hi everyone, I'm 48 and have just joined as have decided to quit today. Have had several attempts over the last 10 years lasting between 1 month - 1 year. Most relapses ocurred due to stress, either a stresfull event or a period of low mood/depression. Last quit was 5 months and I relapsed april 2012 so its been a year back on the evil weed and have had a wheezy chest for 3 mths, nasty !!
I am using patches as they have always been ok in the past although I do cheat a little and work my way down using all brands and strengths ie: 21mg, 15, 14, 10, 7, 5 and that has always worked well for me. I am quite upbeat today and ready to go, hope it lasts x

Thanks for the welcome Max. Its good to have a forum with real quitters/experiences to gleen from and it will fill in the hours if things go pear shaped. I read once that its a good plan to reward yourself at the end of each week and its something I have used before and it does help. I find it gives your mind a little boost when its battling with something it feels its lost. Gonna have a think about what my 1st reward could be. I dont have a big plan in place as I always seem to just decide and stop, put patches on, read self help books and away I go, this time I have this forum which is brilliant x

Hi Gerti, and a very big welcome!;).
You are so correct in saying that this is a brilliant forum, don't think you could find a more supportive and friendly bunch of people who sincerely care!
That's the hardest one for me too - with my morning coffee. On previous attempts I stopped the morning coffee too - but that was silly as I was depriving myself my caffeine fix for the day.
