Oooh feeling very nervous but excited to post here !!!!
Have been lurking and following the forum since early November 2012. Had a quick flirtation with an e-cig in the run up to Christmas but I know from previous experiences ( albeit some 13 years ago ) that the best way for me is likely to be getting the nictotine out of my system asap .
Even though I have attributed my early days success to Allen C and CT, I believe I simply would not have started my quit without having read the inspiring posts on this forum. It really has given me the confidence to just get on with my quit and has helped to prepare me for the jittery days.
I felt the need to register and post today as I am feeling very agitated and will have to overcome post Sunday roast, wine and ciggy moment later. Deeeeep breaths !
Will keep everyone updated with my progress and want to be allowed into the Penthouse in 2014 ..... :):)

you are right, there are times when we have to be tough with ourselves and just get on with it....so that's what we do
After a big meal is a tough one still for me but it's getting easier everyday. As you say, sit back, relax and take deep breaths. Try sipping water through a straw slowly, that's quite calming....or better still, wine through a straw.....that's even more fun
Well done getting this far in and wish you all the strength in the world for your quit.
This forum has helped me get to day 13 + patches & e-cig during fits of desperation lol....no they haven't been that bad really & to be honest i think it's this forum which has helped the most.
Like you i've tried & failed in the past, but determined to do it this time. Keep posting & reading, the days fly by & it's great to keep getting over hurdles.
I talk to myself (outloud) all the time which helps, but i would recommend you dont do it in public as you could be bundled into a white van before you know it lol.
Hi Fluff57 thank you for your kind words and admitting to talking out loud to yourself... its something I'm renowned for in the office !!!
Well done for day 13, its still a way off for me but I'm determined to get there. I haven't thrown away my e-cig as its a little comfort blanket should things get really desperate.
My aim for today is to finish the ironing ( yawn yawn ) and then enjoy my Sunday roast later with a glass or 2 of wine but then feel chuffed that I have not, for the first Sunday in years , finish it off with a ciggy.
Look forward to reading your posts and words of encouragement
Did not make it to Footy as did not make enough progress with my ironing duties .. have been enjoying this forum too much .
Hubby and sons due back from footy soon and then its a case of how quickly I can get the dinner on the table !!
Thank you for your continued support , having read many of your posts since last November I know that you are well in to your quit and have been a major contributor to this forum helping to keep everyone going and staying strong.
If I get through today i have some nice new shoes for my first smoke free Monday tomorrow. I know its early on in a quit for treats but its nice to know that the shoes cost less than 4 days worth of smoking ( 20 a day )
Enjoying my first smoke free Sunday of many to come !!!
many thanks Max for taking the time to acknowledge my first post and congratulations on your quit so far.
As mentioned in my first post I have been following this forum for some time now and your posts have always been helpful as I notice that you have taken time to respond to many forum members . You seem to be very upbeat with your quit which is something that I'm trying to maintain , but today I felt I needed to register and post on here to help me to stick to my quit.
Anyway, one Sunday roast and 2 glasses of wine later I'm still going strong but have really missed finishing off with a ciggy. I know that by the time I have finished typing this the worst of the crave will have passed and that this forum is a great way to help get through those tougher moments.
Welcome to the forum and yes it's brilliant isn't it?
I'm on day 13 today and boy its easier than day 5. If I recall correctly, day five was as absolute b**** of a day for me, so well done to you for sounding so calm and collected.
Keep on posting and we'll soon be sharing one of the monthly rooms together! We could compare notes on shoes, yes?
yes you did hear shoes and they are lovely shiny new ones !!
Hi, its lovely to receive a reply . Well done for day 13 as its reading posts like yours which is keeping me going. I am feeling very excited about joining this forum as even though I've never participated in forums before I think that this one is going to make the difference in my quit.
Its almost like a new habit in exchange for the bad old smoking habit which I need to break free from.
Anyway back to the shoes... they are at the ready for day 6 tomorrow as a little treat for my first non smoking Monday at the office. Planning to stride in confidently and feel good !
oooooh there's nothing like a pair of 4 inch heels to make you feel confident
New shoes and champagne always make a girl feel good ! ( ooops i'm in my forties so 'girl' is pushing it a bit )
Anyway thanks for your continued fab support, as i said to shoegal this forum is going to be my new habit so I can get rid of the old filthy smoking habit !
Hey Nonny! (With a hey and a ho and a hey nonny no - sorry, I try to control it but the Shakespeare fanatic in me pops out occasionally )
Welcome to the boards, and a huge well done on getting so far with your quit. And on doing the ironing - actually that used to be a bit of a trigger for me, as I would frequently reward myself for miserable household chores with a cig. So doubly well done there.
