Wow, I am on the road to winning this battle and the war. At 9:35 Pm Dec 31,2011 I put out my last cigarette.

That is almost 10 months ago. Penthouse...I am coming closer!!!! ppat

Hello still here.

Hello all January Quitters just returned to the forum after an absence of a few months. There are still some fleeting moments when I think it would be nice to have one, but these moments are becoming few and far between now. I remind myself how horrible it would be and how crappy never mind smelly I'd feel. For anyone embarking on their quit journey can I just say it does become easier as time elapses and that's from someone who smoked on waking. I will be eternally grateful to the support that I got here in the early days of my quit it really helped to be able to sound off and know that others were going through the exactly same thoughts and frustrations . Anyway just wanted to check in and wish you all the very best of luck .

Thanks Haze, I am looking forward to it. I still want a fag once in a while but I don't have a graving...I just want. I don't understand it but it is so easy to just say no and forget about it.

This quit has been pretty easy for me, which is surprising since my health has gone downhill these past few months. Some of my health issues are because of the smoking, some just because of my age. Some are a combination.

I just take my life one day at a time and know that I will fight the smoking demon for the rest of my life. I wish I could make it easy for everyone but believe me earlier quits were no where easy. Of course I didn't have this wonderful forum back then either.

Best advice I can give is to just take it one urge at a time. Don't look ahead and say "oh my God, 5 more hours till I can go to bed and this day will be over". That won't help. Concentrate on each moment as it comes.

And my favorite saying, my Manta...NOPE....Not one puff EVER!! ppat

I will never try to force anyone to quit smoking. I will never complain about anyone else smoking around me, BUT...if you want to quit and you are serious I will give you 150% support. Every step of the way. Everyone around me still smokes. That is there descision and I will not tell them to stop smoking around me because I want my family and friends around and at this stage of my life, they are not hurting me. I DID it to myself. I can not and will not ever blame anyone else. I will pray that they quit, for themselves, for there health and the health of the children but I will never make them choose between me and a fag. Because I know when I smoked , the fag would win...everytime. Now, I have won and I can laugh at the fag. I don't need you, I don't want you...you are not important in my life anymore. Just go away!

Say it...next time you crave a cigarette, say it. "You are not important in my life anymore." That is so liberating...WOW!!!! ppat (still here)
