Hi Chris, Yes you have done right! Definitely Horrible though, those first few days, but if you can get through them you will be well on your way to a smoke free future. Honestly it does get better otherwise noone would be able to quit would they? There are some wonderful people on this forum who can offer some excellent advice, check out some of the postings and they will inspire you. I unfortunately am not one of those people I am one who has quit because this forum has really helped me. I hope you soon feel less of the withdrawals and some of the benefits, of which there are many. Health money self esteem to name but a few.
Hang in there chris. Hang in with all your might. Sounds like you are experiencing what many people on here call HELL WEEK......and for many it truly is hell. Good news though. Usually it lasts only for about a week and just gets better and better and better after that. Have a good root back through some of the early day posts on here......it honestly will help you to see that you arent alone.....and that what you are suffering has been beaten a million times over by so many of us. You can beat it too Chris. Try to relax. Breathe deep and slow......and for the next couple of weeks really look after yourself. Early nights and good food. You have arrived at the stop smoking, safe house mecca......and you are going to be fine.
PS Dont listen to modest Haze. She's one of my heroes
Hi Chris & Welcome!! So your quit day was Monday so you are on day 4 at present, is that correct? If so then you are already doing it!! My concentration is awful at present, on day 5! Try some light excersie & remember the amazing postive changes your body is going through. Hang on in there, you can do it Chris!!!
hi and welcome.. and well done for getting this far... try see your quit as an ilness thats getting better.and all the symtoms that u are having is ur bodys way of telling you thats its healng its shelf from a long illness (the illness was smoking).. the first 2 weeks for me were great it was the second week that i stated getting any symtoms (iv got a list of syptoms on the forum somewere).. i still get syptoms now were i could just ligh up again.. but i think thats just my body healing its self after 16years of puting poisison into it..
Hey it is definitely a challenge for the first few days but Allen Carrs way helped me get through it. Imagine that with all your past smoking you have created a little evil nicotine monster inside u... It's really ugly, sticky and tar-like ... Really smells too. So, as you get your cravings, think of it as the little ugly monster crying out for u to feed it.. To help it grow. U need to kill that horror beastie inside.. And the only way is to starve it of its favourite food.. Smoke !! Try and enjoy the crave feeling... Cos you know they will pass...and what you are doing each time u don't light up is killing the monster bit by bit. You get stronger as it gets weaker... It works.... You have made a great choice... Go for It !!
Hi Chris I am in my fifth week I quit cold turkey the first week is definatley hell week - I could not concentrate on anything, thought I was having strokes, brain tumas and allsorts, it was awful but it is encouraging me to stay off the ciggies cos I know I could not do that again. Hang on in there cos it does get easier after the first week.
Hi Chris, yes everyone is right it does get better, but I suppose that doesn't make you feel better. I'm afraid it's not plain sailing and anyone who tells you that giving up is easy they are lying. I'm afraid I used everything they gave me to stop smoking as I had been smoking for 50 years and that is a long time. Today I am nearly 6 months smoke free, my tip to you is take every Day as it comes and on a really bad Day I used to say to myself well if I'm this bad tomorrow I'll have a smoke, luckily I haven't , so plod on regardless mate, will look in to see how you are getting on xxxx
