Having battled (successfully, I might add) with quite a few triggers over the last 3.5+ days, I have come to the belief that cravings have pretty much no imagination.
It's always the same old thing: "Oh, wouldn't a cigarette feel good right about now? Wouldn't you like to lower that tension you're feeling? Want something to help with that self-esteem you've been beating up?"
Yada, yada, yada. Same old, same old false promises: "You can smoke just one."
"Who's gonna know, any way?"
"Trust me, just this one time. Then you can get back to that silly quit you're on."
"Seriously - just smoke one and your cravings will go away forever. I mean it!"
You'd think cravings could be a little more clever than that, such as:
If you smoke a cigarette, your income will go up 100% in three months.
How about a smoke? Did you know that smokers have sexier cars, bigger houses, longer vacations, and are FAR better looking than other people?
Pssst: Hey kid, smoke one of THESE and I'll reveal the secret of life.
Forgive me, I'm rambling right now, writing this as an antidote to a craving that's been irritating me for a few minutes.
DGee been battling those cravings all night myself, been to the pub, I wasnt drinking as I was driving (I'm not a big drinker anyway), but peeps in and out for a smoke got me wanting one, and I could smell it too, even when we moved well away from the door, but on the upside the band we saw were absolutely fantastic (as usual), but I am home now and feeling very emotional

I know what you're going through - it's torture, huh?
But hang on: you're doing GREAT, and you're so close to your goal already! Be strong, keep thinking about what you WANT, not what you DON'T WANT (cigarettes).
Thanks DGee, yes I keep on reminding myself that I am doing great, and that I have support here if needed, and that I dont want a cigarette, I think its more the actual act of smoking I miss rather than the chemicals and shite in them.
Also well done to you cos you are doing just great too

You can do this. If I can do it, YOU can do it.
Sorry about the double post. I blame it on nicotine withdrawal.
lol, blame everything on the nicoteen withdrawal. Do you know what has been the hardest 2 things for me?? Driving my car, always smoked in the car (and on day 2 of my quit, having not driven on day 1, I got in my car and it smelled of cigarette smoke, EWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!) and walking the dog. Luckily I dont smoke in the house so the house doesnt smell

Yeah, I smoke(d) in my car as well. Who could catch me there? And yes, it stunk. So I had it washed a day or two ago and it smells all pretty now. And of course, today it began to rain hard, and is supposed to do so for the next couple of days. That's okay, car may get rained on, but now it smells good.
And you know why it always rains after you get the car washed?
Nicotine.
I can't explain this, but I'm convinced nicotine has something to do with it. LOL
Seeing as you are no longer abusing nicoteen, then surely the rain has nothing to do with it?? You wanna come clean my car for me?? It needs a wash, oh well maybe I will do that tomorrow

Well, you just poked a hole in my theory, huh? So if it's not nicotine that's causing rain after a carwash, what is? It can't just be random!
As for cleaning your car, I'm flattered and honored that you'd ask. That said, I'll have to get back to you. I'm pretty sure I was supposed to clean out some closets or something that day.
