Day 7 ! FAIL!: Gave in today ! I am stuck... - No Smoking Day
Day 7 ! FAIL!
You will not miss it you just think you will!!!
I always used to tell myself that not smoking would leave a big hole in my life, that it was part of who I was. I have realised that the only hole was the one in my bank balance and I don't want some smelly, poisonous crap to be part of me.
You have not failed you had a blip, get back to it!
A lady I work with has a friend who is living with COPD (I think that's the right name?) A disease of the lungs caused by smoking. Its just hitting home to her now that she's not going to get better. She's going to die with this. Also know of two people being recently diagnosed with it, one I don't think is 50 yet, one is 62. Why would you miss breathing poison in, that makes us get diseases like this one? You need to realise there is nothing to miss. Apart from a healthy long life if you don't stop.
I know its a scary thought, but its a smokers reality. If I needed a kick up the bum, hearing of people with this disease has given it to me. Its frightening.
My father died with throat cancer its not a nice thing to see or go through but even that aint enough to make you stop just like that! I know it should be but its not as easy as that! Dont no what to do as my wife smokes and wont stop so that makes it so much harder!
I can imagine that your wife still smoking would make it harder BUT you are not doing this for her you are doing it for you! It is your body and you decide what goes into it. I for one have decided that arsenic etc tastes pretty crap and I won't be having anymore!! We will all support you on here
And I know for a fact that folk from Argyll are made of tough stuff!!!!
I also know someone with COPD and its a terrible thing to live with.Basically she cannot breathe properly, shortness of breathe alot of the time. Its one of many reasons for the quit.It really is scary. When a craving comes just google COPD x
And I know for a fact that folk from Argyll are made of tough stuff!!!!
Lol who told you that one!
I dont no what to do now tho i was on champix so what do i do now to get back on track! I dont want to start champix all over again!

Obviously I know it isn't as easy as that, I am doing it too ya know!!
My point was to help you realise that there's nothing to miss. Because I can honestly say I don't miss it. I used to hate the fact I had to do it. And the only time I enjoyed them was on a morning, which was the hardest part of the day in the beginning. But I got through it. Will be into month 2 in a couple of days which I know isn't ages, but the fact I know I don't miss it is a definite positive. Its why I havnt been struggling much.
My mum died of smoking related illnesses and I have COPD. Neither made me stop instantly either.
Do you think coming off the Champix too soon may have been a factor?
No because i done the same last time when i was off the cigs for a month same prob missed it so much and my wife smoked so to me it sounds like im not ready to stop but i want to if that makes any sense
That would be the growing up in Oban!!
Ha ! Do u live in oban? I work in Oban! small world eh!
Oh my word, very!!
Not any more but my Mum does and I was there last week
Ha! Im just back from Oban i live in Lochgilphead ! Where do you stay now ?
Worcester, so quite a trek!
You have no idea just how much sense that does make.
Don't give up trying - you will get there
Dont no what to do now though ! If i should go cold turkey now and try to get it out my system again or by a pack of cigs in the morning!
Hiya
You should speak to your doc to see if it is worth going back on the champix - you were doing great - am sure they will find a way for you to get back to it. Maybe as you only stopped a few days ago you can go back tothe stength you were on?
Know the feeling of trying to stop when oh smoking!! Am now on day 13 and my hubby was still smoking away (not in front of me but u still get the smell/see the packet) and to my surprise he had just started the patches and is on day 2 of no cigs!! I think he was surprised that I had managed to do it and didn't want left behind!! He popped out last night on his day 1 and when he came in he said I could smell his breath!! I said what do I want to smell your breath for - you cam smoke if you want but I aint - had this attitude with him from the start as I knew if I nagged him to stop too he would do the opposite!!
