Hi Everyone,

I am on day three using patches and so far so good, I can honestly say that I have not had a single craving :)

I know I have a long, long way to go and any tips and advice for keeping motivated would be fab.

Hi Dottie and welcome to the forum :) and well done on getting to Day 3. Best advice is to keep reading posts on this forum, and learn as much as you can about nicotine addiction. Allen Carr's Easyway is good, and articles on the whyquit.com site.

And remember to drink plenty of water and to eat regularly as hunger pangs can be mistaken for a cigarette craving.

All the best,

Zoe

Start a journal. write down how bad your smoking was when u hated it the most. make a note of why u wanted to quit , re-visit your reasons often cos u might forget. read up on the nature of the beast. see mine and others links. read and read some more. enjoy your quit the freedom is awesome.

It sounds as though you're certainly off to a flying start!

From my experience, it just gets easier -- sure, you'll have better days than others, but it's not as difficult as you think. Go for it! :)

Thank you

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the tips, I bought the Allen Carr easyway book for women last night and will start reading it tonight.

I am finding that going for a brisk walk in my lunch hour really helps and is not something I would have been doing last week as would have been in the smoking shed - stinking:mad:

I have also got a journal and write in it every time I have a particular thought or feeling and am regulary reviewing the posts on this forum - which is great.

Any tips on not overeating as I did do this yesterday?

well done on quitting :D

just remember to be aware of when a craving is coming on and keep mind and hands busy till it passes

overating is something most people do as smoking helps keep the hunger pains at bay but buying some fresh fruit and veg to snack on

and sipping some water will help also try chewing every mouthful slowly and sip water between each mouthful

you could also start a food journal as well just to keep an eye on what your eating

onwards and upwards is the way to go :)
