Ok, My name is Bobby, my age 20...lets tell you why im here :P

DAY 1

Ive been smoking since year 8 in school (about 13 years old) And ive tried to quit smoking two times before, once on patches (which caused irritation to my skin) and again on nicorette Gum (Gave me chronic hiccups Haha)

Ive been wanting to quit for ages now, also getting a bit of a jibbing from my non-smoking work friends, the last week ive been mentally preparing myself for a quit day on friday when i came across a post saying that 'if you dont quit suddenly and allow yourself time to think about a quit date then you will prolong the expected pressure it brings'

Thats what spark me to say 'I'm not having another one, EVER!'

So as of today, I WILL NOT smoke again!

Ill document my time as a non smoker for all too see, Plus i like a challenge so im doing it cold turkey (ill show peopel you dont need NRT's), im about to start my 8 hour shift and that cig on the walk to work will have to find another lung to pollute, PLEASE SHOW ME ALOT OF SUPPORT!..I feel i may need it :D

Thank you

Well done Bobby on making the best decision.

You are at an age where the repairing will be quicker. I wish I had the sense when I was younger and not started smoking at 24.

I hope that your workmates show as much support to you as they did nagging you about the smoking :)

We are here to support you when you just need to let of steam or if you need some praise.

Good Luck today and let us know how you get on

Hi Bobby, I like your attitude you sound so positive:D And I like the fact that you don't want NRT's cos I think they only prolong the agony as we all have to go through the nicotine withdrawal at some point. I am on Champix which is ok but if you can go cold turkey I think it is better in the long run. Wish I could do that. But wishing you all the best and good luck with your quit. Keep posting on here to let us know how you are doing.

Wow!

Didnt expect to get such a response!

I'm not going to lie to you, Today was Hard at the best of times backed up by probably the most stressful shift I've had to endure in the past months and a chronic tooth ear and head ache!

But I'm glad to say I haven't had one, Although my head right now is going nuts!

It reminds me of those little brats you see at the superstore who wants a chocolate or sweet and they keep on screaming 'I wanna sweet! I wanna sweet!'...Just got to stay vigilant, make it through the rest of the night (about 4 hours)

Tomorrow will be a brighter day, im sure of it!

thanks for the show of support, it made me smile for the first time today :P

Stay with us Bobby, it does get easier honest! And between 48-72 hours all the nicotine will be gone from your body, the first big step! Take it one day at a time and remember to keep coming back to this forum.

Good luck:D

That is exactly what it is a little monster that keeps on trying to get you to give in

Well done on getting through your first day without one. The first 3 days are usually the hardest because of the nicotine withdrawal on top of the mental anguish but you seemed really determined.

Keep up the good work.
