Day 1 is just starting for me and I'm feeling happy, positive and very pleased to be here.
Having tried numerous attempts cold turkey I have chosen to go down the NRT route. I have patches and an inhalator but also know I need lots of willpower too.
Will update you all tomorrow

awww karri!!! keep it going girl..whatever it takes to stay away from that cig!! lots of luck coming your way!!!! you are worth it and you can do it...keep us posted
You're like the unofficial quit-smoking coach helping everyone all the time.
You'll be fine, stick with it and be strong.
All the best.
If it's any consulation, i am giving up NRT completely today. I can't be bothered with all that cutting down cobblers. I'm getting fed up having stickers stuck on me and red blotchy thighs.
So i feel like i'm starting from the beginning again too Give me a couple of hours and i'll be chewing the settees!
I couldn't use the patches on my arms for two reasons.
1) It's summer. Time for vests and patches really are NOT attractive no matter whos wearing them
2)I had that same dead arm feeling.
I stuck mine to the tops of my thighs. That way clothes don't tend to rub around much so it gets held in place and i don't have to see it all the time.
Glad to hear you're doing so well, and understand your reason for keeping off the forum (tried it myself, as you know!!)
This is the one. You are not 'on a quit', as in one of many. You HAVE QUIT. Full stop. Happily every after. Yippee!
Stay positive - and don't be disheartened if you have down days, it happens. Look at me, having a bad day today, true, but I've had lots of them, gritted my teeth, looked them square in the eye and got past them, and here I am five months smober.
Karri, great to hear you are taking a break from the forum for your latest quit. It's difficult to give up while trying to help everybody else, especially if the forum reminds you of smoking. You really need to distance yourself as long as it takes.
Good luck!
Alex.
Well done Karri, at last you have found something that is going to work. Your determination to quit has inspired many on this forum, because many of us who may have failed would have left the forum. You kept giving people great advice even though you were having problems with quiting. Good luck with the patches. I will be visiting the nurse today and expect to be given a script to come down to the 7mg patches and that is after 7 weeks on the 14mg ones.
My only suggestion is don't try and come off them too quickly, it is better to get over the habit of smoking before you try and ween off the addiction of nicotine.
I agree with woody, stick to the full course. Best of luck Karri I really hope you can stay quit, just think how much you want this, which I know is a hell of a lot, you ca do it, and I hope to see you back here soon. All the best.
Of course, due to time zones, I am again one of the last to post.
I don't know if you're still here Karri, but I'm sending you positive thoughts across the pond.
You know I don't like to wish "good luck" because I believe luck has nothing to do with quitting. It's all about desire, inner strength, mind tricks,etc..... lots of different methods for different people. Whatever you find that works.
Hope you come back and visit often. I think you are one of the key people on this forum.
Hope you do really well with this quit, Karri... looking forward to seeing you post your milestones in the near future, you've really fought your way through this and I'm certain you can do it!! See you around
Today has been a really great day. I joined the forum in February and over 3 months later I have at last found "my quit". I never thought I would feel this way but the patches seem to be what has unlocked everything for me. I am actually smoke free and it feels great.
Karri, thats fantastic:D. Im very proud of you, as im sure you are of yourself. The patches have certainly enabled me to become smoke free. Each week gets easier and easier.

Hi Karri
Just wanted to wish you all the best with this quit as today is day 4 i believe, fingers crossed this will be the one if not dont give up giving up and try again, as your time will come. I do feel though this could be it for you so good luck Hun.
day 5?! That actually just sent a chill down my spine... it's just such a great achievement... I hope you've found your road to quitting for good at last x
Thanks Bella. Trouble sleeping tonight though - it's as though my eyes are tired but my brain is wide awake. Have given up for now
one of the toughest things to get through..... daytime can be so full of struggles then you go to bed thinking you get some good needed rest just to suffer insomnia...... the good thing is that your body will adjust again, many experience this in the beginning, just hang in there!! Oh, and maybe try some melatonin... cheap, natural, and it works! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melat...
If I had Jonny Depp beside me I'd want to be awake
Melatonin sounds brilliant and can't wait to try that. Will pop into the health food store tomorrow and pick some up - sounds like it might benefit me in other areas too.
Great tip so thank you for that
I also take Mag/Ca, helps relax the body.... most smokers are deficient in lots of vitamins which affects their health, mag is one of them.... I actually still take it at night time. mcvitamins.com/Health%20Opp...
With Melatonin you have to skip a day here and there as the body gets used to it... so maybe 2 days you take it then skip a day. Hope you get some good rest soon!
night x
PS I'd give up on sleep permanently with Johnny Depp in my bed
Good luck for tomorrow caringKaz I take mine off an hour or so before bed and slap it on first thing in the morning lol. Well with the added surgical tape to hold it on because they refuse to stick on me
Glad to see you are doing so well Karri, you go girl
