Feeling so proud

Hi all,

Well that is me on 3w 5d. I had the Dr last night and mentioned that I had stopped smoking, and the first thing she said was:

'What an achievement, I think we better record that in your notes'.

It feels so good, particularly since it has not been a good couple of days as MIL been airlifted to hosp etc. She seems to be improving now, but it was very worrying for a while. But neither me nor OH caved.

Feels like it is getting easier now as well, I am not feeling so tense at nights, which is when I smoked the most.

However, is anyone finding they cannot stop nibbling. I have been trying to chew chewing gum a lot but that gives me terrible wind that can be very uncomfortable. So myself and my sis are joining the gym today in the hope that I do not put any more weight on.

I think we should all be giving ourselves a big pat on the back for getting this far, even though we have had our troubles.

It is a great achievement you should be very proud of yourself and your OH.

Sorry to hear about your MIL, hope she is ok. I am really impressed that you haven't smoked. That must have been very stressfull and you didn't turn to smoking which is fantastic.

I can't stop eating. I have tried to start being good but I can't leave the biscuits alone. Am gonna try and make up for it in excercise so at least I don't add anymore weight to the pile.

I know what you are saying about the gum giving you wind. Its the sugar free stuff right? there is something in sugar free gum and sweets that cause wind and also can ave a laxative effect if you have too much. I found that with sainsbury's sugar free humbugs, they are lovely but if you eat to many of them, well lets just say, don't :o

Well done on getting this far :D

Ha ha Sian, yes I have had the sugar free experience - not pleasant and not an experience I want to repeat.

I never thought that it could be the sugar free element of the gum giving wind. I wonder if you can get full sugar gum, I would be willing to give that a go.

Still, these things are sent to try us, and I would rather eat than smoke. :D

You can get gum with sugar in it. Wrigglies (sp) gum has sugar in it. I seem to get on well with extra mints. They are sugar free but don't seem to have that bad an effect on me. Although after the humbug experience anything would seem good lol.
