To cut a very long story short, I stopped smoking uses patches. After one week on the patches I cut down to 7mg (because i wanted it over with as soon as possible). I did two weeks on those patches and then started to go CT. I was doing quite well (then had a blip for two days) then went back CT which I did for about another week. My moods were getting that bad that I bought some because I couldnt stand feeling so depressed and snappy...if that was how it was going to be forever I would rather smoke...I thought. Then was smoking for 1 week, bad chest back already, teeth getting stained, less money in my pocket.... so I read the Easyway by Allen Carr. I only read this on Saturday afternoon. I havent had a cigarette yet but obviously it is only early days. I am so desperate to quit, I hope this time I dont fail! Really disappointed in myself.
Dont know if I should even join room "day 2 or 3" or wait to see if I last the week, month etc?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated x

Hi its not easy is it, we are not cut out us humans to deprive ourselves of things we have become accustomed too, if it was taken away as in you could never have it again you would be fine but its the fact that they’re there all the time around us so we cannot just give it up without a fight which is what you have to do, you have to fight for this quit as if it was something you desperately want, and if you want to live a good life with quality and health then fight like a mad dog is what you have to do.
Tell yourself that if within a couple of days you can feel so bad then imagine what its done to you already and what if you carry on smoking it will continue to do.
I think that some are effected by smoking worse than others and you are not that old and didn’t smoke for that long and moderately as well if only 10 a day yet it gave you a cough, I smoked for 40 years and stopped when I got a cold and cough but I didn’t have a smokers cough think on another 10 years and you could have COPD, that would be enough to stop me and has stopped a lot on the site as you will find when reading the posts and threads.
I am not trying to scare you only trying to persuade you that now is the time to quit while the cough is just that a cough nothing more sinister, and if you are ready and with the help and support of this forum you will become a none smoker trust me the benefits far outweigh the slight distress at the beginning of the quit.
So ciggies gone and onwards and upwards we are here for you xx
Hi, firstly I think you seem a bit panicky about all this, which is natural of course, but you really have to get your head straight about the whole process. Learn to understand the different things you might feel, don't blame everything on not smoking, remember, we always get mood swings, bad days, you just have find something else to reach out for if you're feeling a bit tense. This forum's a good place, deep breaths, music, anything that helps you calm down a bit.
Every time you beat a trigger that produces a crave, and every time you do something else instead of reaching for a smoke, that trigger gets weaker and the crave goes. Which is why it is important to stay calm and focussed, cos we will experience triggers for a long time. I know it is possible, cos i've done it, so I am speaking from real experience, not text book stuff. You'll be amazed what some deep breathing and positive thinking can do, don't let the negatives run away with you.
I do hope you're right, I mean I can be strong and I know its my choice. The first week or so I find so easy, thats the thing i can ignore the cravings, come week 3 BANG mind games....novelty wearing off....thinking I can have "just one" or one "just when I have a drink". I was kidding myself. I dont have a cough or anything but I do have asthma (brought on by smoking) and although my asthma is not really bad (yet) my chest gets so tight, just within that week of caving in I am wheezing so much (has actually started to clear again already in 4 days which is brill).
As for the b6 thanks for that advice, is it not only for time of the month though? I heard if you take it every day it just balances out your hormones making you less likely to be so moody etc every 4 weeks!? I think I will buy some of this ASAP! I am quite calm at the moment, its normally week 2 when things start. Like Allen Carr says, its the fear that keeps us smoking and I just want to be stronger than that. I so desperately want to be a non-smoker for the rest of my life x
Forgot to mention, I am booked in to see the doc tomorrow evening. I really do get snappy and quite mean whilst stopping and I dont want to go back to smoking to stop this so hopefully he can suggest something for me! x
awh so glad your back .....Dont be hiding im good at finding people
Dont rush it ......Its isnt important how quickly the nicotine come out of you is it?? Isnt it more important that you dont smoke for now..xxxxxxx i did patches for 11 weeks ,,,,how i look at it is it helped early on to sort my head ....despite controversy ((spell ?)) I think NRT helps especially in the first month at least ..x
When your ready we will wait & support however you choose to quit xx thinking of you xxx good luck & welcome back
Thanks Kitkat! Good to be back! Was gutted that I had caved in so felt I had no right to be on the forum really!
Yeah I know where you are coming from but personally I want it over and done with as soon as possible and after reading Allen Carr I see no need for NRT. Everyone is different I suppose. The absolute only part I fear is being angry because I know its coming…. If that aspect wasn’t there I would probably not have relapsed last time. Going to try the B6 too like Chrissy said. Anything that can help really. Maybe I will just go into hibernation for 6 months lol I am sure work would understand x
