Quit smoking forever

I've been here before and I only lasted 5 1/2 hours without a cigarette. I've tried hypnosis and I'm going to quit tonight. I don't want to breathe toxic fumes into my lungs anymore.

I want to be free of the nicotine cravings.

I'm quitting cold turkey again as nicotine replacements just seem to make me want a cigarette more or have no effect. I know that some people are really helped by them but I don't find that they suit me.

Wish me luck on my second attempt with help from the quit smoking forum.

James

Hello and welcome to the board and well done for re-startng your quit.

I went cold turkey for surgical reasons. In 3 days all the nicotine will be out of your system - which I think is a great kick start.

As everyone says - read read then read some more and take it a day at a time.

If you haven't already read this that Marg has in her message.

It was singularly the most important thing I read that helped me get to 5 months quit.

Good luck - post often - and we're all here to help.

James, well done on you decision and wishing you buckets of success.

There are some great tips and advice, some of which you've already had. Read as much about the enemy and you can, you will beat it.

Post as much as you can, there is always someone around, doesn't matter if it's good, bad or ugly, help is always on hand.

Take it a day at a time, the days soon stack up.

Good luck,

Lorraine :)
