Ok so i quit on 26th september, biggest reason because of my op, so i thought ill stop, ill have my patches ill be fine. 2 weeks before my op the surgeon says nicotine thins your blood, best results will be if you stop with your patches, so im like noooo. first day today without, hmm got abit high rate, i heard it only takes 3 days for nicotine to get out of your brain/system/whatever, does anyone know if thats true? as i know alot of this is psychological, and knowing iv only got 2 days left n im rid of this drug is helping i guess??

Yes it takes 3 for the nicotine to leave your system.
I am married to a surgeon and i just asked him about nicotine thinning the blood and he tells me that is rubbish, i won't tell you word for word what he said but it was not polite. So I don't know if maybe you misunderstood what your surgeon was saying? or maybe your surgeon is trying to get you off the patches?
I do not know what kind of op you are having, and whether anything else in the surgery maybe effected by smoking, but it certainly is not the case that nicotine thins blood.
well it wasnt the actual surgeon, it was my co ordinator, im going for breast enlargment, they said i wasnt allowed, smoking, patches or otherwise, drink, mushrooms, garlic, chinese food or asprin. iv gone all day without a patch so i might aswel try as i really have only got 2 days left, guess thats a good thing...
There are very good medical reasons for you not to take somethings before the op, aspirin is one. So please do not disregard all that was said to you at the hospital. If you would like any more advice i can ask oh and let you know.
