This feels like a proper grown up move! It seemed like miles away when I started my quit but 3 calendar months down and complete. Not 1 puff. Not ever again. Many bumps and a good few tears and tantrums on the way. I swear never to become smug. Once an addict, always an addict in my mind. But dealing with the addiction becomes so much easier the further you go. I have good teeth and good skin and I don't smell, I have extended my lifespan, filled my bank with more money, spent more time with my children, stopped hating myself and generally grown more happy with my lot.
Thanks to this forum and all who sail within you! xxxx

Its amazing how much happier most people are once they quit smoking, it really was an unexpected benefit for me.
Congrats on your move to the 4/5 month room, its a bit like going to big school isn't it.
Indeed it is Nic! I cannot believe a person can get so excited about such a thing, but there you go. Its almost more exciting than passing my cycling proficiency test at 10 years old! But, that was on a new green folding shopping bike and I think you'd be hard pushed to beat that....
I like not smelling as well but the teeth and the skin are the best bits.
However, saying that, my teeth are giving me loads of grief since quitting and I now have to have speshell toothpaste for my precious toothy pegs and anti-sensitivity stuffy painted on them.
*Imagines BB rolling his eyes and muttering "has to be different and a woman"!*
Not at all. I too suffered the same fate. Had to have a deep clean .. under the gum line - two seperate visits, half a head frozen each time and horse-strength antibiotics. It is therefore normal and not womanly-only.
To be honest it has been the worst part of giving up. I have had a pretty non-eventful quit and count myself very lucky but the blasted teeth problems have driven me mad. At the moment I can only chew with my front teeth, I feel like I am 90!
Have every faith in you Trendy! This time you will and I will be applauding all the way xx
I too have had teeth troubles. Well not teeth as such. Part of my incentive to quit was tooth whitening and some veneers. But by gum my gums! Constant flair ups. Dentist gave me a name of some natural gel stuff. Works a treat. Only started after quitting. Strange isn't it. See BB told you Sam does not smell.
Well done to you Fiona. Sorry to hear about the teeth. Pity we've just had the "Grand National" never mind I've put your name down first on the list for the first set of teeth from the next unfortunate gee-gee that expires. David xxx
I to have had teeth problems except that mine are dentures, [not funny]
Anyway have had to have a new set as mine became to big when all the gunk came of my gums and they became smaller, the teeth which fitted perfectly were therefore much to big I told you it's not funny
Well done Fiona, 3 months completely smokefree! that is a fantastic milestone, great posts and helpful to us that are behind you, you have been a great help and support in my quit and just want to say, thank you and Well done again, x
Thanks! You know, there is one positive thing I can say about being a smoker. If I hadn't smoked, i'd have never had to quit, and if i'd never had to quit, i'd have never found this forum and come into contact with such great people!
*of course, never smoking would not have made me so skint or knocked years off my life, which would have been more beneficial!!!!!
people on here can be so sentimental, its mad how highly we all speak of each other and we dont even know eac other. i wonder if everyone is this nce to me when i come in this room in 2 weeks lol

Smoking was 'my thing'.... giving it up was tragic (for me)...... some shared those tough times and yup, I'm sentimental about them and relish the fact they are succeeding just like me...... anyway...... silly to quote this.....
4 weeks tomorrow Bella! I am so proud of him. He seems to had an easier ride of it than I did, though maybe thats just the male ego wanting him to be the 'winner' at the lack of craving contest! Should be you soon Bella! A big thanks for all your night shifting again, you do a stirling job!!
Wow... 4 weeks already!! No way he's gonna give in now especially if he is competitive!! I have a theory that quitting is harder for women.... cause of the ups and downs hormonally and emotionally..... but that might be discussion for another thread
PS - Joining you in month 4 TODAY Finally beyond all the 3's !!!!!
