Hi,

I'm new to this forum and thought I would introduce myself...I've just entered my 3rd week as a quitter and feel like I could really do with some extra support at this point to keep me going :-)

I am stopping with the aid of patches and inhilator (I don't really use this much). I haven't found stopping smoking too hard so far, but know not to get complacent as I've felt this way in the past and have eventually gone back to smoking. At least I feel I know what to expect this time. I'm also concerned about putting on weight - the last time I stopped, I gained 2 stones in weight and I'm pretty sure this contributed to me going back to the cigarettes. I'm fairly slim at the moment, so as well as quitting smoking, I'm also trying to eat healthily, which hopefully will keep the unwanted weight gain at bay. I really hope we can all support each other during this massive life change for us all.

Ali

There are lots of lovely people on here whom im sure will reply too and they have some great link pages for you to read and read, you sound very positive and im sure if you gain a small amount of weight it is far better than smoking.

Keep posting on here anytime and there is always some one to reply, and keep smiling:)

Hi Ali, Tis great to get to week 3 isn't it? Before that I felt like I was just playing at being a non smoker and now I am one!

Re the weight thing, I think most people put on a little in the first few weeks, but because your getting fitter all the time, lungs clearing, blood flowing etc then getting fit and losing weight should be easier for a non smoker than a smoker. :D

Hi,

welcome to this forum. This is the reason I am a succesful non smoker. Have a read of the links on some of the posts (mine included!) and post and read and read and post. Once quit, I think helping others helps reinforce the quit. Thats what someone told me on day one and they were so right! Good to see you, chill out about the weight and be positive!
