And I thought the farting thing was just me glad I am not the only one
I have noticed my dog stinks as well is this a good sign ?
Still cant get over how good food tastes now
Keep the faith
I wonder if we are actually farting more or are we more aware of it because we now have a better sense of smell ;).
Hello I am a newbie on here, but on day 8 of quitting!
LOL! I noticed that my dog stinks too.
I thought getting a sense of smell back was supposed to be a good thing!!
lol i can honestly say that i never do fart let alone more now:rolleyes:
But i do agree the sense of smell and taste has already started to come back and wow food does taste so good, and boy dont smokers stink awful, that is probably the worst smell around....ewwww especially when they have just had a ciggy then come and have a chat to you, makes me want to throw up.

It is a horrible smell, I feel sorry for all the people who I work with that had to put up with the smell when I was a smoker.

Oh dear - had to LOL at this one - I'm so grateful that I live alone cos the antisocial aspect of quitting for the first week was unbelievably awful!! I'm not generally known for my farting skills but even I didn't want to be around me - phew - just thought of it as the toxins escaping??
All seems good now - let us all know how it goes
xxx
I must have loads of toxins still waiting to escape :o:o, there hasn't been much of an improvement :eek: .
Thank God I logged on here! It's my 10th day of freedom and have had my first serious bout of wanting to go out and buy some cigs. Climbing the walls a bit so decided to sign up on here so I will have something to do with my hands - so here goes, my first post!
I've had a quick scan of the other posts, and this one really hit home and made me laugh (which, as you will all know, is what we need right now!). I feel that if I can face my cig withdrawal with laughter rather than moping, then I've a better chance of staying fag free.
First up - oh my God - you are all so right about the flatulence. It is soooo embarassing. I have a healthy diet and never have any bowel problems - until I stopped smoking. I was constipated for the first three days and ended up buying some laxatives to get things, erm, moving I was so worried that something wasn't right, till I scanned the internet and found it can be a common side effect when you stop smoking - phew!
And as for the smell of smoke - I was in a bar this afternoon (I'm following the Allen Carr book, which advises not changing your routine) having a couple of pints and every time the front door opened the smell from the smokers' corner was gross. Not to mention that the waitress stank of cigarettes. Makes me quite ashamed to think that's what I have smelt like for 16 years
I've 'quit'* five times before, the longest for three months. I've always done it by myself but this time I'm going to admit that I need a bit of support if I am to stay smoke-free for life. The messages on this forum are great - you guys are a great inspiration and it's wonderful to know I'm not alone
* I've put 'quit' in inverted commas because I'm going down the whole NLP route - I've not 'quit' this time because I'm not giving something up... I'm gaining something - health, wealth and a brighter future. I'm not going to think of myself as an 'ex-smoker' but a 'non-smoker'. It works for me, mentally!
Hi there Breaking Free,
well done on finding your freedom! It's a great feeling isn't it? I am on day 28 today and I feel great. Yes - I've been through the farting stage, the constipation and I now have a much better sense of smell, especially around smokers eeergh!
Welcome to the forum - whenever you feel like you might cave in, log on to this forum and read some of the posts - they will inspire you, educate you, make you laugh and hopefully keep your mind thinking positive.
Keep posting and let us know how you get on!
Hello Breaking Free and welcome to the forum,
Great attitude you've got there.
The Allen Carr way is great, it didn't click fully with me but in conjunction with whyquit.com and the tales at woofmang.com (Links in my sig) it got my head in the right place and made quitting not only possible but relatively painless
Keep posting.
Nic

Thanks so much for your support! Like you I've stopped smoking before and wondered what would make the difference this time - I really do think looking through these kinds of forums could be the thing to make a difference this time... and it's free!
As an added incentive, I've set up a new savings account with a £5 direct debit going out every day so I can see just how much money I've wasted on fags. At the end it will probably just go towards paying off my credit card rather than on a holiday etc but I think it might be something solid I can look at when I'm having a weak moment.
Good luck Breaking Free.
Great attitude you have there, BreakingFree. Works wonders! Good luck.
Hi Breaking Free

Hi all
Talking about a sense of smell-i went for a facial and although my therapist did wash her hands before she started i could still smell nicotine on her fingers -URGGGHHHHH, so i laid there and thought do i say something-and then i thought to hell with it!! its costing me £40 and i cant enjoy it so i told her!! she was very apologetic and gave me lots of freebies-so stopping smoking does pay back in many different ways!!!!
