BEWARE - Smokers HATE you . .

I am posting this on every forum - it is so significant, it is something i have experienced again and again and again in my journey to freedom and even whilst I have been free itself.

I have been offered cigarette after cigarette by smokers all the time, when i have been out getting drunk there are occasions a smoker will try and almost force feed me a cigarette - especially when they are drunk too and especially girls.

i am NOT the only person that has experienced this, it has been experienced by many 'now' non smokers i have spoken to.

BEWARE these poor weak souls are attempting to hang on to you, they want to know attempting to quit is futile because they want to quit and can't or won't. They are doing everything they can to reassure themselves, to make themselves feel better and more comfortable as smokers.

DO NOT FALL FOR IT!!

Do Not Smoke, the pain of going from a puff to a fag to 2 smokes to a pack of 10 to a pack of 20 is very very easy to fall back in. Please do not let it happen; you never know in the long run it may also help the insecure smoker trying to force feed death to you to give up too.

I haven't encountered the jealous type yet. Everyone I know are still gobsmacked/speechless that I have kicked the weed so I don't spose they have had the chance yet haha

I haven't even had anyone ask me how I'm going! Well, maybe a couple of times but thats cool. No problemo! I know they prob don't ask in case they put fags in my mind. I don't need to go on about it to them anyway 'cos I do that here :rolleyes:

I too can say I have not encountered this in the slightest, people have been nothing but supportive and happy for me, even my smoking freinds.

These messages seem a bit like scaremongery if you ask me, not what you want to read as a new quitter, but each to their own.

I agree with Maddy & Rik, everyone has been really supportive throughout. Strange place to post if you ask me :confused:

I sit on the fence on this one (yes it's darn uncomfortable) and my friends vary from 25 to 55 so it's not so much an age thing, some of them are really supportive and shocked that I’ve managed to give up and get blasted and still avoid the weed, yet others try to encourage me to smoke and flaunt it in my face as if giving up is somewhat weak of me. But to tell you the truth every one of those smokers that come over to flaunt it at me STINK….STINK and no matter how much I’m swayed they still frigging STINK.

Why on earth would people want to do that Chad? Flaunt it in your face like that? Sorry, I do not mean to be disrespectful to your friends, but in my mind all they are flaunting is their own weakness and you should feel good that you are no longer like them (the jealous ones).

Thats what it comes down to, jealousy.

I'm lucky that I have not encountered the jealous type at all yet. I'd soon put them straight!

LOL I have no doubt you would and trust me I dont suffer fools gladly, but there are a few individuals who really try to encourage me to smoke, I just laugh it off. I know they want to stop themselves really.

Interesting post Antifag. I have certainly come across smokers doing this. Can you imagine what it is like being an ex-smoker and working for No Smoking Day? Nobody wants to be your friend anymore

There are lots of smokers out there who want to stop - so let's help each and everyone of them!

I don't think they hate us, I believe they are insecure and would secretly love to stop, why else do I have the 'doth protest too much' brigade telling me how great smoking is. Do I look like I care, whether someone smokes is up to them, being preached at by a smug ex smoker never stopped me, why would i think that talking to others would make a difference for them?

The other negativity besides the insecure smokers prattling on about how geat it is (Can you imagine me going on about how much I like the colour blue day in day out - it gets that boring) are the smokers who say *insert big gesture* "Suppose you don't want us smoking round you or " Better not smoke near HER"

I always say Good God why would you not smoke near me? If I truly wanted to smoke i would just smoke, others smoking around me doesn't bother me. I suppose it's partially thanks to reading 'that' book. I can honestly say Hand on Heart that I don't envy smokers. Only while I was in physical withdrawal for a few days. Not now.

If smokers hate me then so be it. Those that truly know me know that I am the girl who does what she wants, if i wanted to smoke i would smoke and to hell with the consequences. But i wanted to be a non smoker and here i am!

Hating someone is like drinking poison and wanting the other person to die....

You know John the girls in my work all quote my sayings!! They love them too, I don't know where I get them, some i make up myself but that one about poison was on an email I fink...

The contraversy of AC tires me, all I want to do is let people know that you can stop smoking if you want, read this book if it doesn't work what have you lost? I've even offered to buy the book for people but it makes no difference.

Sure we know why we stopped and that's good enough for us!

I don't hate smokers I pity them, esp the ones constantly trying to quit and failing and they can't figure out what it is about smoking that means they have to keep doing it (btw it's Drug Addiction - with a bit of brainwashing thrown in)

People who find it hard to quit or hanker after cigarettes weeks, months and years after smoking their last cigarette really HATE those of us who found it 'easy' to stop smoking.

Oh My God, I've been given dogs abuse on here myself for daring to say that quitting 'isn't THAT bad' but i was talking to an ex-smoker today who quit over five years ago and still goes on and on and on about how she misses smoking! :eek:

Would you live your life like that? She actually misses the smoke going into her lungs. Crazy bint, if i loved it so much I would just smoke, life is short why torture yourself? BUT! Some of us found it easier than others and you get resented for that too :rolleyes:

I was bracing myself for the 'we beg to differ Brigade' who found it hard to stop and we've had the occasional stopper who likes to act like kind of a martyr which bugs me because people who would like to stop smoking read on here and I don't like the thought of people being put off with that nonsense. I thought someone would come in and tell me to pi ss off or something.
