It gets worse...

Just when you think family arguements, miserable snappy time, being made redundant is enough to deal with.....

I spent yesterday afternoon in hospital with my 4 year old with suspected meningitis.....

Luckily it looks as if she doesn't have it just a bad virus but I honestly feel that if I had been hit by a truck yesterday I wouldn't have felt it..........

What more can life throw at me.

A sad and desperate Jane

PS didn't smoke, can't promise that will last tho

Life is a bitch Jane. It most surely is. It just keeps on chucking crap at us doesn't it? Well, let it do its worst. It will not beat us. We will beat 'it'.

So glad your son is going to be ok. It must have been a pretty scary time for you :(

As for the fags, please don't do it. They really will not solve anything. I know you know this but all you will feel afterwards is disappointment. You don't really want to be chained to such a disgusting, dictating habit do you? Be strong. Stay free.

Jane,

You can survive without a smoke!! I (and I know others on this forum) found week 3 the hardest. You nearly over that time now.

Remember, however bad things are, smoking won't solve anything!! Glad you little one is OK:)

(((Hugs))) Jane

I thought I was having a crappy time. Things like this put everything else into perspective though. I am so glad your boy is going to be ok.

Chin up, your turn for good luck is just around the corner. Buy a lottery ticket for tomorrow - in fact buy 5 - use the money you would have spent on cigarettes, cos you don't smoke any more (remember?;)):)

Jane - sorry to hear about your bad luck, but glad your wee one is ok. Poor thing.

Remember tho that ciggies won't change the situation, you'll still be in the same situation - but smoking.

When you think of it logically, its madness isn't it? But listen, everyone on this forum is someone who thinks along the same lines - i.e we are all recovering addicts....there's always an excuse to go have a fag waiting in the back of our minds - whether its a celebration or its because of some bad luck. For me, I had to programme myself to think logically about smoking - its tricky but addiction isn't logical or rational - everytime I want to have a fag I think 'but why? Really? What is it ACTUALLY gonna do for me' and when I think of it that way, I realise that actually its gonna do NOTHING.

Its a system thats really working for me!

Sorry again to hear your news, and sorry if I sound a bit preachy - I just think you've done so well to get to where you are without smoking.

Chin up and all the best

Laura x :)

Bit better

Hi all,

Thanks for being there and letting me rant.....update....

My daughter is much better, still poorly but no way near as bad. Have made things up with my sister, still peed off about losing my job as it's the best job I've ever had :( life really does suck.....AND there's buggar all jobs going at the moment so means I will probably lose my childminder as won't be able to find a job quickly enough to keep daughters space (they're like gold dust!!!)

Anyway, guess what you really wanted to hear is did it make me give in?

NO!!!

Still feeling numb about the whole of last week and generally low and miserable.

Going to Menorca in 2 weeks, something to look forward to....

Jane

Life is a bloody bitch and you should be proud that you haven't had a fag - Yeah you wanted one who wouldn't have with what you have been through but hey - you have had a bad time, would having a fag of made it any better? - No - You should be well and truly proud of yourself!

Big Hugs Fay

Hi Guys

Well life is better this Friday than last thank god.

Daughter is much improved and currently eating me out of house and home - not bad seeing as she didn't eat a thing for 5 days

Have had a couple of calls about possible jobs coming up in the next couple months, childminder has agreed to drop hours when I finish at work - still have to pay but daughter will only go twice a week - that's where my fag money's going once I'm not earning!

Not looking forward to the weekend, seem to struggle more than through the week and an extra day to go through too.....

Anyway, thanks for all your support through last week.

Jane;)

hi hopethistime

You are amazing to have come through this without smoking, an inspiration to us all.

I so agree with what you say about the weekends being the hardest, for me its always on a Friday night that I start to think about you know what!!! Have got a busy weekend ahead of me, am on a course all day tomorrow and working bank hol monday so not quite as bad for me.

My friend has just started yesterday with champix, would you say it is easier than NRT or have you not tried anything else.

Keep in touch, Della x

Hi Della,

I'm on champix and (in my opinion!) it's sooo much easier than NRT :p

Tried everything (literally) before and never managed more than 3 days:o now heading for end of 5th week:D

Thanks guys.....:)

Della, yep I def think this quit has been MUCH easier, gone down NRT route a couple of times before, tried patches, inhalator, microtabs and never made it past 3 days

I don't know why the champix seems to work but I'm almost at 4 weeks quit.

Tell your friend that the worst bit for me was wondering whether it's actually working before you quit. I honestly felt it wasn't doing anything but hey I quit. It's not a miracle drug and if you read back my posts you do need to be determined to stop but I think it takes the edge off for one reason or another.....

Take care all, happy weekends.....housework here I come :(
