Well, we come to the next weekend.

I do have an issue, together with stopping smoking i have stopped drinking as the two go hand in hand for me. But.......................Have a party to go to Saturday night where i believe i will have to drink and apart from the fact i should get p****d very cheaply and easily, i am not sure how i will react to a drink with out a cigarette.

Has anyone tried it?

Any comments/advice welcomed.

Take a pen to fiddle with. You may find you drink twice as much ( Both my other half and me have found this) cos instead of a swig then a drag, you will have a swig, then a swig, then another swig. So be prepared to be rat*rsed

Yep i think its easyer than when im on my own in the house. i even go outside with friends while they have one. you will be suprised how awful they smell. go for it Gary. i know you can do it xxx

Oh yes I am finding a white wine and lemonade in the eve takes the edge off!!!

When i gave up before for a month went out and got slaughtered and didnt miss it at all.

Just dont try to buy any new clothes, it was putting on 7lb in a month and trying to buy jeans that led me straight to a pack of10!!

I have to admit drinking has really increased for me since quitting Gary. If it keeps going down this trend I may find myself in a whole new forum come the end of the year

No but on a serious note I don’t think its the drinking I worry about ... it's more, the getting together with the old smoking clan, which I have fortunately managed to avoid.

I find now I can get completley pissed and wake in the morning feeling absolutley fine wheras before it would be a hangover from hell!

I dont have that 'animal died in mouth' taste and feel like when I was smoking.

Hubby has been quit for a year and 7 days, he says the same. Maybe it's because your body only has to deal with alcohol toxins, not all the fag ones too, so it recovers quicker?

I definitely don't feel anywhere near as bad the day after a big night out now I'm not smoking. Don't get me wrong - I still get hungover, but it's not in the same league as it used to be.

As to handling the drinking just take it slowly - it is harder to deal with temptation of any sort when alcohol's lowered your inhibitions. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself though. I'm not sure whether you're using any nrt but if you are make sure you have it with you. I found a packet of mints helpful for when I found myself rummaging in my bag for something.

The favorite tipple at the moment is 'melbourne lounge' from Threshers. I only have to have a couple of glasses of it and I'm legless. I have been developing a tolerance to Ozzie wine so its nice to try something that has the desired effect - either that or its about 18%

The only hangover ive had recently wos when I mixed it with baileys and vodka

I'm not a medic but it might be the chemicals in cigs that make you have a hangover?
