I've been off of the demon cigarettes for over two weeks now, but i am starting to feel ill, and worried into the bargain. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest - it's a bit like the tight-windpipe feeling you get with a chest infection. I keep coughing in the hope i can somehow get rid of it, but no luck. Was anyone else like this after they quit?

yep mate had the same on my last quite lasted about 15 days it made me feel like i was dieing
I didn't experience this but could it be all of the gunk and nasties in your lungs trying to break up and come out now? Sounds gross i know, but that is my best guess. Sorry not much help
I have definately felt like that when I have quit in the past, luckily I haven't felt like it at all this time, I must admit that is one of the reasons that I caved last time as I felt so ill. Please try not to do the same, I am sure if you can be strong a bit longer it will start to pass and you will feel better. It might be an idea to just see your GP coz he might be able to give you something to make you feel a bit better.
Good luck with your quit and let us know how you get on,
Thank you so much to everyone who replied - you've really put my mind at rest! I've quit twice before, years ago, and never experienced any side-effects to stopping, so all these horrible symptoms came as a wee bit of a shock Mind you, i'm doing it cold turkey, so could explain it.
How long did you feel this way?
Roll on the day i return to feeling like a normal human being!
I felt like it for about 2 weeks and then the cough for me lasted quite a while but I am asthmatic and I have a scared lung
steam and maybe some vix at night to help get it all moving
I have asthma too, which ironically never bothered me the entire time i smoked  I don't have a cough yet but i am sure it's coming! I'll maybe take your advise and go get some vix before it starts
