I nearly forgot that today at noon I moved into my second month as a non smoker. Having quit before and then squandered the chance for no reason, I feel pleased to be in a position to have another chance. Having put a whole month between me and nicotine, I am p[retty much now in a position to choose to be a non smoker, after years of nicotine being the decision maker in everything. I just hope that it's not too much longer before this constant mild tense feeling subsides

In my experience this is just around the corner for you x x and it won't be so obvious, it'll just be like an awarness of 'Oh!! I don't feel like that anymore! in fact, bloody hell! I haven't felt this cool n calm in years!!'
Thanks guys for all your support. I hope you're right about the tenseness thing. Amazingly already I hardly think about smoking throughout the day, which I'm really pleased about. In fact the only time that I'm reminded of the fact that I'm quitting smoking is when I'm conscious of this unwelcome feeling of anxiety. Just can't remember from previous quits when it subsided but I've a feeling it was a couple of months in rather than a few weeks. Nevertheless even if it is a couple of months, a) it'll go by in the blink of an eye (Harrods'll be putting the christmas lights up soon, and b) in the overall scheme of things it'll be worth it in the end - assuming of course I can hold it together enough to keep my new job until then.
Thanks Boo, that's encouraging. Must admit that it had crossed my mind more than once that mildly tense is the new non-smoking me and that the reason i couldn't remember from previous quits when it subsided was because it probably didn't.
So it's good to know eventually it will go away and I shall become a model of calmness personified.
No I went cold turkey this time for the first time. In previous quits I've used NRT gum. Though in place of NRT gum this time I've been administering daily doses of bacon sarnies, pork pies, sausage rolls, cheese and onion pasties - to name but a fewwebsmileys.com/sm/animal/ti...!!!!
