From what I am getting from news reports Change needs to start from the top. Logistics and communication has been the downfall of the present program with many donated kidneys being unused. Major overall is needed in transportation of donations and communication with possible donors. Hopefully your organization will facilitate such changes. Right now the public has concerns about the program. As a transplant recipient I would like more research in anti rejection medication. The one positive note being made publicly is the great job that transplant surgeons are doing.

I totally agree. The anti rejection medications I take and have for 27 years have almost unbearable side effects...some can be treated (skin cancer) some effect mood and cannot be controlled. We definitely need incentives so more research into better medication will progress.

I couldn’t agree more- change needs to happen . Stories of Organs lost or damaged in transport is unacceptable. The use of an antiquated system for allocation to those on the waiting list is unacceptable. Lack of understanding of the transplant system and the disease itself is incredible. Many thanks to all those at NKF who are advocating on behalf of CKD patients and educating our government leaders and general public!

Educating the public really is important. The US diet and commerce that promotes that diet and life style is setting up an explosion of a need for kidney care after the fact. Thank God for the care but let's make it less necessary and change our ways with blue zone cities that put the health of its residents first.

Thank you for providing information about the transplants for all initiatives with details included in the newsletter link.

I also was pleased to find and sign the petition I found linked in the same newsletter addressing the need to remove ethnicity from the Kidney Donor Risk Index.

This is long overdue so I am glad this issue is included by NKF in an effort to make kidney transplant systems more equitable. Thanks NKF, for all you do.

Totally agree. I was amazed that some of the major questions when I was going through the application process had to do with money. It is a shame that our medical system in the US is so expensive from medical care to prescription drugs and each year it gets worse. Soon only millionaires will be considered for transplantation.
