Transplant 4 weeks ago systems
I am seven months out. Although I did not have the blurred vision all the other symptoms were quite norma for me. I am 63 and it took me four months to begin to feel any energy and to regain my breathing capacity. I still get exhausted on many days and have to nap. I have resumed exercising and going out and traveling.
Remember a transplant is a major operation and the medication is intense on the body. Keep talking to your husband’s team. And be patient Good luck.
These are all quite normal symptoms for only 4 weeks out from a transplant. His body is adjusting to his new medication regime. I remember having the shortness of breathe, tremors, tired and horrible diarrhea. You do need to see if his symptoms improve with some more time. For me, it took some fine tuning of my immunosuppressants to get on the right dose for me. It took multiple blood levels of these drugs to reach what worked for me - 6 months of fine tuning.
Be patient, this all takes time! He is still healing from a major surgery too. Immunosuppressants slow your healing time also.
It’s normal to feel week after transplant. I am 8 months post transplant and each day I got better. Just make sure to drink 2-4 liters of water a day. I drink 3 liters a day. The lab draws each week will show how the body is adjusting. I am 68 and my vision is at the point where age is the culprit. Try walking each day more and more. The hospital gave me this gadget for breathing. Practice that so no blood clots can form. My transplant team was great! I have now been transferred to a nephrologist who is monitoring my progress. Keep asking questions from the team. I worked with a dietician who was just super. Hope that helps.
Hi kristisparks, i am 7 months post op, i had all those, i am still exhausted alot of the time. Ive decided to give myself a year to be well again. I was fighting it, but now if my body says rest, thats what i do. It will get better, tell him to take small walks, then build it up. Im alot better now, and can do alot more, apart from odd days. Hes just had major surgery, tell him to give himself chance
Hi thank you for reaching out. Wishing you the best in your recovery
