I have had enough

This is Randy 1805 here we go again. I now have cancer around my temple, cancer on my arm. I'm still recovering from my lip surgery which by the way looks terrible I have scars under my nose along both sides of my nose and on my chin. I'm done with radiation from my prostate cancer. Hoorah! I wish this could have waited until my lip healed. I don't know what to do.

It seems like everything is going south for me. I wear long sleeve shirts, I use sunscreen. Help?

Hi Randy. So sorry to hear of all your troubles. Sometimes they come all at once for those with transplants and on immunosuppressants. I'm glad you've sought help and have received treatment to turn your situation around. Skin cancer surgery always seems so scarring at first. Give it a little time, the swelling and scarring may well decrease over time. You seem to doing everything possible to prevent it. Sending encouragement and positivity your way that cancer stays far away from you in the future.

My sympathies, Randy. I don't know where you live, but maybe a broad brimmed hat would help, especially if year round sun is an issue. Think cowboy if that's your style, or a fedora if cool jazz and Frank Sinatra is more to your liking.

I live in the Seattle area so year round sun is definitely not an issue, but I've heard and know it's possible to get sunburned even on our many cloudy days! I lived for the beach and pool prior to my transplant so learning to put on sunscreen and a floppy hat is still a struggle for me. "Luckily" I have a reprieve for the next 6 or 7 months. . . But try to keep a positive attitude and know that the community here cares. I'll remember you in my prayers.

Keep in contact. It sounds like you are going through a lot. I sense a feeling of anger. That is good. It means you are ready for a fight against cancer and it appears your fight has been going on for awhile. I hope we all have the strength when our time comes. It may be covid or it may be cancer or some other disease. We are all in this together and ready to support one another. Keep posting. your journey is helping others. We are stronger together. Take care.

Hi Randy, I remember your writing us months ago prior to your lip cancer surgery and other major medical issues you had happening. I wish I had a magic wand to fix everything going on with you and it seems to arrive too much in a short window of time. Use your anger to your advantage to get answers. If you haven't , talk to a dermotologist about what more can you do. My spouse who had his kidney transplant 3 yrs ago yesterday wears 50 SPF clothing and long pants and gloves,socks,shoes and a hat and eye glasses when he is outside. Maybe you are doing everything you can, but that is my only bit of advice to talk to this dermotologist. Your situation is more delicate. Are you allowed to put the aloe vera plant juice (i cut the leaf and put it on cuts and burns), for that may help healing , but ask your doctors first. Please keep writing us. I am sending you a big hug. I care about you.

Thanks for writing us back Randy1805. I am truly sorry you are struggling. My hope is the dermotologist has experience with people who are on antirejection medications and can give you easy things you can do to help your situation. Keep us informed please.

Sorry for your troubles brother. My dermatologist recommended Niacinamide to help reduce the development of skin cancer. It is over the counter and I take 2 capsules per day. Ask your dermatologist if it’s right for you.

Randy, I hope your skin cancers heal and don’t come back. I had one on my leg and in Sept. had it surgically removed by a plastic surgeon. It was there over two years and I first went to a cancer doctor. The skin to close the large wound came from my stomach. I had to sit n a recliner for most of the time for 2 months. He also removed two on my arm. It never ends.

Yes, I had skin cancer on my lip. You can’t tell that the doctor took a chunk of skin from my bottom lip and filled in the hole he made on top with it. I moved from NJ to Fl and a plastic surgeon did a cancerous tumor near my ankle and it also healed up very well. Thank you. I hope you never have cancer of any form again.
