Hi guys

My husband just had his first dialysis and his vein blew twice. It’s now very sore and swollen . My question is will they be able to do the next one, due tomorrow when his arm is in such a state or will they wait a few weeks ?

Would welcome your advice

😊

It was pretty common back then. I would always beg the nurse to stick me. Apply ice/heat and it will be ready for next time.

Thanks for your reply. It seems to be improving and he managed dialysis today for 3 hrs so all good. How are you doing now?

Well we have both been struggling a bit what with hubby’s kidney disease and I had a minor heart attack in feb but it makes us treasure each and every day 😀

Being a caretaker is tough. You could get your own stress reliever. My husband runs each morning and goes to a martial arts class. Find something you enjoy.

I hope things get better. You can always contact me and the rest of us if you need to ask a question or just chat. We all have something in common.

I had a similar problem with bruising I ask them not to use a turniqut when they stick me also my arm swelled had to see my vascular team. Also dont be afraid to complain or ask how to care for your arm. Best wishes.

Thank you for your reply Rosebud, he has been using lots of ice and the bruising has gone down and has now had several successful dialysis sessions, in fact he has just left at 6am! but a good thing he will have an early finish 🙂.
