Covid 19 AstraZeneca vaccine.

Hi everyone, I had my covid 19 vaccination on Monday, but from Monday night onwards I’ve been violently sick every day and night since, I contacted my transplant team at the hospital I attend and gave them all my symptoms and they said that people with kidney disease have been reacting a similar way to this vaccine (Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine) and that if things don’t get better by tomorrow then they’re going to bring me in. Anyone had any similar reactions like this?

Hello. Thank you for posting! Not enough trials were done on transplant recipients for vaccines affect on transplanted organs.

I have had MODERNA, just got my 2nd shot on 2/10. No problems with first shot but about 6 hours later after my second I ran a temp of 101, muscle aches, fatigue, headache, and diarrhea. Luckily for me about 36 hours later all was well! Hope the same for you.

I received my first Moderna vaccine Feb 6th with no side affects, minus a slight headache the following day.

I’m 68 years old and have had my kidney transplant for 5 1/2 years. I received my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on 1/20 and the only side effect was a sore arm at the injection site for a little over a day. I had my second dose on 2/10. With this dose the injection site was more sore than the first time and lasted not quite two days. The day after the vaccine, I woke up to lots of fatigue, which continued throughout the day. This morning (2/12), I feel refreshed and feel like myself. So, my mild side effects were very temporary. I wish you well. I hope you feel better soon. I’m glad that you are staying in contact with your transplant team.

You never mentioned what your side effects are. I guess a lot of people react to the second dose of the vaccine. My nephrologist told me on Monday, two days before I had my second dose of MODERNA, that it has to do with how the vaccine works. It "ramps" up your body to produce the antibodies that is needed to prevent you from getting COVID. That is why some get side effects with the second injection and some have no reaction at all. It has to do with your body and how you respond.Best of luck to you and hope all gets better soon!

Sorry... hope you get better quickly! Is it just this shot as to reactions? If so they need to remove this shot for kidney patients.

My friend who got a transplant the same week as me got the same vaccine and had zero side affects apart from a bit of a sore arm

Hi all, I’m currently in the kidney transplant unit at the hospital, because I was being sick so much I ended up dehydrated. My creatinine had shot up aswell because of this, was on a fluid drip yesterday and through the night, creatinine has came down a bit, been monitoring me through the day I hopefully should be getting home tomorrow.

Glad they get some fluids in you. Yes dehydration can definitely make creatinine "look bad". Feel better soon!

My creatinine jumped back up today, so I’m just drinking lots today and fingers crossed they come down tomorrow morning
