Has anyone had their COVID Vaccine yet ? If so did you have any side effects from it. I am scheduled to take mines this week but I have to be honest I am a little nervous about taking it and how it will affect my body.
COVID Vaccine : Has anyone had their COVID... - Kidney Transplant
COVID Vaccine
I’ve had both my jabs (AstraZeneca) unfortunately on the first dose I took unwell, but only becuase I had BK virus in my transplanted kidney, once we found out I had that it made sense why I took a bad reaction to the first dose. Had my second dose last month and only the slightest sore arm and nothing else 😊
Hopefully if you get it you won’t have a problem
It’s unfortunate that the first didn’t take well for you but I’m glad to hear that the second dose was better. Well at this point I’m just going to try to stay positive and hope that my body handles it well. Please stay healthy and safe 🙏
I am supposed to be getting the Pfizer vaccine hopefully it will agree with me. Since I have gotten my transplant in January 2021 all of my test results have been really good. I have not contacted any viruses and I hope that it stays that way. Please take care of yourself and stay positive. Power in prayer!!! 🙏
Hi! I had my transplant in july 2020 and had my first dose in April and got pfizer. It went really well! Had a sore arm and a swollen lymph nod in my armpit for a few days. My doctors told me it was a good thing that my system was reacting to the vaccine. I also had CMV vitus in March and no problem with the vaccine!
I had very mild side effects. Arm pain (ice helps) and a headache. Certainly better than getting COVID.
Hi, I'm a transplant patient. Had both pfizer vaccines, no reaction except a slightly sore arm for 4 hours the next day. 3 weeks later, no antibodies. Almost wish I HAD a reaction as people say it shows its working. Hope it goes well for you,
Mgt
Thanks!! I am scheduled to get the Pfizer vaccine next week, hope it goes well. Stay safe and healthy!! 😊
Had Moderna in earlier this year. No problem except mistook negative reaction to myfortic overdose to Moderna shot reaction. Once I got that cleared up i am anxious to get booster shot so I can feel more protected and go back to work part time. Doctor predicts normalcy may not be until 2022 for transplant patients but no one really knows. Anyone feel normal yet?
Got the Moderns jabs. Sore arm the first time, nothing the second. Go for it!
I got the maderna vaccine. First one had a sore arm and slight headache. Second one got a migraine which I’ve never had and was throwing up that night. Was really tired for several days and had a sore arm. I don’t know if have any antibodies. I’m really hoping they don’t suggest a booster. My transplant Dr did say that even with vaccine no guarantee that won’t get virus. Several of the doctors still got the virus several months after taking the vaccine. My family members had very few side effects. Wishing you the best for your vaccine.
Hope all goes well for you with no side effects. Will say a prayer for you.
Hello! I hesitated getting vaccinated too because of possible side effects. However, after hearing back from people on here, I decided to just get it done! The only side effect I had was my arm was a little sensitive for a couple of days after each of the shots (Moderna). My husband, who is not a transplant patient, ended up with a fever, body ache, and chills after the second shot, but recovered within 24 hours. I encourage you to do your research and do what feels right for you. Best wishes!
Hi Redbone 55, My spouse had his kidney transplant Nov 2018, and received his Pfizer vaccine in March and 2nd shot in April with same minor side effects in both shots. He said his arm was slightly sore that did not cause him any changes in lifestyle or sleep. That was about it. He is late 50's in age. Thanks for taking care of your health and getting this vaccination.
Thanks for responding come to find out I am scheduled to get my first Covid vaccine tomorrow and it is the Pfizer vaccine I’ve been hearing pretty good reviews on it. Stay healthy and safe. P.S. I just received my transplant January 12, 2021 😊
