I got mine on Monday night. I am an RN working in the hospital. I am 8 months post transplant. My arm was sore but that's it. My second dose is January 14th . I was happy to get the vaccine!
Wow, so we as kidney transplant recipients can take the vaccine, I didn’t think we could take it with the immune suppressant we’re taking. I guess I need to reach out for my team and see what they suggest. I’m not a frontline worker so I’m probably not eligible for it right now.
It is not a live vaccine. Totally safe for transplant patients. The only issue is we may have a weakned response to the vaccine due to our immunosuppressive medications. But any response is helpful to fight against the virus!
My I ask your age? I know that some people are unwilling to share this information. I’m personally thrilled to share it, in as much as I know that my donated kidney offers me a longer life. Seems that being under 65 is an issue at my transplant clinic. Thanks so much.
