Shingrix (Shingles) Vaccine

Hello. My nephrologist is recommending I get the shingles vaccine (2 doses as prescribed). I'm wondering if any post-transplant patients have received it already and if they had any reactions.

Yes. The same reactions as from the annual flu shot.

My only reaction to the shots was soreness at the injection site for a couple of days. Certainly don't want to get shingles!

Also, I just got my flu vaccine.

My Transplant Dr. and Team both told me you cannot take the Vaccine because the vaccine is a live vaccine . also they say that I should take the COVID 19 vaccine

Hi Katie, the shingles vaccine now has a dead virus vaccine so you may want to ask again. I’ll get the Covid 19 as soon as I can!

I had the shot & the booster. No bad reaction.

So glad it’s no longer a live vaccine & because of that fact, transplant recipients may get the shot.
