Hello

Congrats on your transplant! Any questions I would be happy to answer from my own experiences. Oct 15th I will be celebrating my 20 year transplant anniversary! Lie is good!
Hi... feeling hopeful reading ur post .....that u r doin after 20 year post transplant....I m in stage 4 CKD and I m 34 years old....
Please put some light on... how long kidney works on their own once u reach stage 4 ...what u eat post transplant from last 20 years
Regards
I think the important thing to remember is that everyone with CKD is different even if all were at Stage 4. It depends on the cause of your CKD for one thing, but if you are diabetic, have heart issues, high blood pressure, etc. Things were a little different too back when I had my transplant. Now, if you go on a renal diet as soon as you are diagnosed, some are able to stabilize and post pone dialysis.
I started dialysis at the very end of August 1999 and was called for my transplant Oct 15, 1999. So, I was only on dialysis for about 6 weeks.
Now that I have had my transplant I pretty much eat whatever I want. I do have to continue to watch my salt intake. I have a tendency to have swelling in my feet and ankles if I don't watch the salt. I have lab work done every 3 months and my creatinine has been stabile for the last few years at 0.9 - 1.0.
Take care....
Congrats! Anything specific you would like to know or talk about? I am a bit over 3 yrs post from a living donor xplant.
Hi Sammie82, I just joined the group. My transplant was 4/21/19. I am still struggling with fatigue and hair loss. Many members of this group have been very welcoming and helpful. Obviously they can't solve my issues but just to know that someone is listening is so good. Doctors give you medicine and rules, not sympathy and kindness. I am so grateful to have someone to "talk to". My thanks to the group and a welcome to you!
