I’m 5 weeks a transplantee!!! What a journey. The pancreas failed but the kidney is doing its best to hang in there, and improve. I’m so happy!!!

It’s not without some hiccups. I’m currently showing signs of some rejection and will be admitted tomorrow so intense drugs can be administered - just overnight.

Hi CatsAreTops,

When I received my organs, the kidney did not work for a few days and I had to get dialysis once or twice but then it got to work. The new pancreas showed signs of rejection, but thankfully, it recovered. I was in the hospital off and on for several months and even had to have surgery because my bowel got a bit twisted when it was put back in during the transplant. So, it can be rough going at first. Yet here I am 19 years later! After a rough start, it has been a relatively smooth ride. I am hoping that your kidney "settles down and behaves" very soon. I'm keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!🥰
