Recommendations for prepared meals (shipped to home or available frozen in a store) for Stage 5 renal dialysis patients? Or alternatives?
Living in Wash., DC area. (Meal Pro looks looks great, has lots of chicken and fish on the menu, and is prepared by a renal dietician. But shipping from CA adds $99 to bottom line. Mom's Meals has no fish but is more affordable and I didn't get as far as looking at shipping.) Anyone try these or have other ideas? Thanks

Don't see any responses here yet. Where I am in Alabama, I don't know of any meal services. I've learned to just do my own research and figure out recipes on my own. So far my labs are ok. Stage 5 is tricky. Phosphorus is a bugger to control. EVERYTHING I like has phosphorus in it Can't live on iceberg lettuce alone. Again, I wish there was a place on this site where folks could post recipes and have it stay in one place. Recipes based on CKD stage, and then based on other conditions like diabetes (which I fortunately don't have to deal with at this point). I wonder if we made a post, if folks could just edit it to add new comments say as sub posts under each topic Like Stage 1, Stage 1 diabetic, Stage 2, Stage 2 diabetic, Stage 3, etc.
Magic Kitchen has prepared renal meals. They're expensive. You may be able to find a personal chef that's local to you willing to prepare delicious meals that are renal friendly and either deliver them or prepare them in your kitchen. Some love doing that kind of thing. There are also wonderful recipes and cookbooks you can download on the Davita website. Some meals only involve 5 ingredients, etc. You can save your favorite ones there as well. Anyone, including a personal chef, can access that site too. My hubby is a diabetic so we paid close attention to sugars and carbs in addition to other things when we were searching the recipes. davita.com/diet-nutrition/r...
I have been on the renal diet so long that basically Im sick of food. The older I get(Im 82) the harder it is to prepare meals. I just dont have the energy. Would love some simple recipes for late stage 4 kidney disease that are easy to make. I have not found any meal service I can afford for the two of us.
My wife rec'v'd Mom's Meals for a couple weeks after surg. Some of the meals were better than expected, but we did get a few that I wouldn't eat again. Just my $0.02.
