I too had a strong body odor that most deodorant’s didn’t handle. I started taking a probiotic from Dr Gundy (not for that reason) and I no longer have that odor. The only thing I did or took differently was the probiotic so it must have been coming from my gut. One warning! Do not take it at same time as your meds- wait two hours between the prescribed drugs and the probiotic!

It has a name - uremia - which can develop in end-stage CKD. In dialysis patients, uremic levels in the blood can be "off" due to various imbalances which can lead to an "ammonia" type of body odor. (If you're a diabetic, the smell can also be a bit sweet.) There are some reports indicating that dialysis patients may also have an altered sense of smell which can influence one's perceptions. I think Three Kids' advice is interesting - could probiotics might help with uremia? My hubby never tried probiotics specifically for that but it's worth checking it out in my opinion. (He used probiotics for c-diff while on dialysis; his digestion loved it.) Above all, bring your concern to your nephrologist's attention - an adjustment in your dialysis treatment may be possible too. That would be ideal. If not, perhaps he'll let you try probiotics. Or maybe do both! I truly hope you find a solution.
