hey I had a uti that doesn’t want to go away I’m just finishing my second round of antibiotics. I ask dialysis center that will the Kt/v test be affected that I’m hardly making urine only did 100 ml in 24 hours before uti I had a nice urine stream .well they said no it won’t effect it we’ll call today you fell it may be cause of your urine output . I been pushing the water doing more than drops but not full stream . She told me somehow my prescription was mess up I’m suppose to do 1000 last fill someone change it to 100 she said this could be my low urine output I don’t know about that she fixing it I have to do another kt/v on Friday .

has anyone been in pd dialysis where your urine seem to stop could it be from the uti or is it my body when I first started of I was doing at least 13 oz of urine after couple month in dialysis 5 to 6 oz now down to 100 just wander if it happen to someone else

She then text me ask if I ever use purple bag I said no she said people with draining problem like me may benefit from it any one I. The purple bags do you have to dwell really long time I don’t want to be carrying more fluid I can’t do manual cause of that.

Hope I’m making sense here appreciate any one knowledge

From what I've seen others post having urine stop when on dialysis is not uncommon, in fact it's more common that continuing to make a lot of urine.

When I was in the hospital and getting IV antibiotics they didn't affect my urine at all. They did kill all my gut bacteria and caused diarrhea. Now that I'm doing hemo my kt/V isn't based on urine output.

Never did the purple bags but I thought those typically stayed in for 12 hours and are in addition to regular bags.

Thank you Horsie yeah I heard 12 hours

Do people pass the kt/v if they make no urine how do they measure that

Yes you can pass adequacy without urine. The calculation of kt/v is slightly different without any urine.

well dialysis has change my prescription they told me today instead of using one yellow one green 6000 to use two green 6000 if no is in 120s if in low 100 use one yellow one green but to the two 6000 2 greens add a 3000 green I said and where am I getting that they said you don’t have any your prescription should of been this to start with I said nope nobody told me that .she said come by center they gave me three boxes of 300 she said and when you hook the bags up you may been taught to use blue and red clamps I said yep was told red go in heater bag blue fir cold she said well that not right yes red for heater but white in the other 6000 bag and blue on the 3,000 so tonight first time I’m using three bags I hope I don’t get bad cramps before two greens gave me cramps she said this should help me pass the kt/v

Anyone else’s has to use three bags I never heard of the 3000 before

I’m not quite following your new prescription - they added a daytime dwell? Yes, you can pass adequacy without producing urine but it might require a heavy prescription. Some of it depends on your transport, do you know the result of your PET?

They said that need to do another. Pet before it was low transporter.

They had my last fill mess up I was suppose to keep 1000 in me and someone somehow change it to 100 I think they forgot a zero. When they had to program it again.

I been dining one yellow bag zx6000 and one green bag 6000

Last night it started to green bags two 6000 and one green 3000 bag all bags are dextrose I remember why we switch to yellow bag I get bad cramps with green my kegs hurt so bad last night so if I want to pass the kt/v test I will have to deal with legs cramps .

Low transport is not great news, it means it's harder for you to remove toxins. The color of the bags doesn't really impact kt/v much, it is only needed if you are not removing enough fluid. In order to remove more toxins and pass kt/v you need more exchanges or more dialysis fluid in you.

I am low-medium and don't produce urine any longer. I barely pass kt/v (last result was around 2), but my prescription is quite hard with 4 day time exchanges + a night time exchange.

Did they say why they are not switching you to Icodextrin for the long dwell (purple bag)? I guess it's not absolutely needed if you are low transport. I started using it about a year ago.
