dialysis pd machine mishap sorry had this post under kidney disease before

sorry I had this on wrong forum in the kidney disease I thought I posted under dialysis so I’m just putting it in correct forum

Pd dialysis machine mishapBeachgirl3214 hours ago•2 RepliesDialysis mishap ok us usually I have no problems setting up my pd claria machine I had made mistakes in the pass like I didn’t hook the blue line to my second bag it will say check supply line but I figure it out. Well my niece was over today so she wanted a refresher course how to set up machine since I was going to book club tonight I needed to set it up early .ok we set it up then I heard beeping came in check supply line I look red connected right blue connected right but frangiables open . Ok the bathroom door was shut so I think the door was too tight on drain tube that goes to toilet. Fix that a few minutes later check supply line again I said what the heck. Somehow the bag on the heater came undone I had it connected tight like I do every night well my solution was pouring all over the floor. The Machince kept beeping  check supply line ok my little Care Bear that what I call my machine, what in the heck are you doing. I told my niece please bring me another bag / cassette in here don’t want to use the one that to much solution ran out. Ok let prime again beep beep check supply line .my niece put the drain line in the toilet for me but she had the tube all the way in the water I never put it that way so I said let see if that the problem three times a charm . Well when I heard it priming I could hear it draining in the toilet so I thought that could be the problem . I said I’m staying in here this whole time while it prime . Finally it beep and my niece said oh no I said no that what it suppose to do now beep and say connect to patient . So I don’t know if all the mix up cause she ask me to show her and I said I guess I was teaching you what not to do. 🙄anyone else had this bad of setting up your machine go wrong. I figure we can all learn from each other what not to do😉

Oh the mishaps I've had. One, didn't tape the drain line down well enough and it came out of the hole we had in the lid for the bucket and went all over the floor before my husband noticed it. Two, I use an empty baxter box on top of my heater bag to keep the cat off. Well it didn't sit right and I kept getting alarms. Learned how to bypass. But not the box set up is different and no more alarms. I've had to discard bags and for some reason the god awful drain pain is back.

When your bag wasn't connected tightly and leaking..you started with a new bag, and a new cassette, right ?...With my Amia..If your bag has a leak you must throw out everything , wipe down and restart with all new supplies

Good...it sounded like you just hooked up another bag to the already contaminated cassette...hope all went well after your fiasco...just when we think we have our machines figured out...they show us that we dont

yeah I thought I wrote bag and cassette but the mind goes sometimes lol
