Hi everyone, if you have kidney disease and you don’t have a cause for it but you have a parent with it and possibly other family members, you may look up a disease called MUC1. After decades of searching my family found the answer as to what was causing our unknown disease. It’s characteristics are no protein in urine, bloodwork normal except for creatinine and GFR … onset age is variable. Slow progression but leads to kidney failure. MUC1 is considered rare but probably many people have it who don’t know it. If you think you may have it we have a fb group founded by the head nephrologist at Wake forest NC - he’s looking for a cure and the more patients we identify the better.
