I get sharp pain in my face on the left side only, and usually around the eye. It develops during dialysis sessions, which I am fairly new to. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I have thought of other causes, but it is clear now that it always develops out of nowhere during dialysis. The pain is severe enough that pain pills hardly take it out...and it becomes quite debilitating.

Face Pain Develops During Dialysis

Hello. I notice that you haven't had any replies to your post, so I am thinking this must be quite unusual. I haven't experienced any face pain during dialysis and I don't know of any others at my unit that have. I think you need to talk to your consultant/lead nurse to see if it's something they see regularly. I can sympathise with face pain, I had something called Trigeminal Neuralgia which is a condition where a sharp pain shot from my ear to my cheek. It felt like I was being electrocuted! I was told it was the inflamed nerve and it would settle. It did after a few weeks but was pretty nasty and I needed strong painkillers. I hope you get it sorted, whatever is causing it. Best wishes, Julie
Thanks, Julie: I have talked with my nephrologist and he wants me to see a neurologist which is a difficult appointment to get.
Best,
Mike
