Hi Sal !! I'm happy you found this community. Its safe and offers wonderful support from people just like you !! The first thing is to remember that you control the dialysis, it does NOT control you !! Secondly, you need to surround yourself with support, which you are off to a great start being apart of this community !! Thirdly, try to be as healthy as you can be outside of dialysis. Trying to keep up with the diet guidelines can be hard, especially in the beginning, but it will get easier the more you do it, and you will feel better physically. Rest as much as you can after treatment, and try to do mild walking or low intensity exercises on your non-treatment days.

also, explore all the options for the types of dialysis available to you. Its a must !! You may find that one type of dialysis gives you a higher quality of life than another. Try to do the one that best fits your lifestyle. Also, make sure you have a KICKBUTT team of doctors, mainly your PCP and Nephrologist. Make sure, if you can, that they care as much about your health as you do !! They should be a source of encouragement, not adding to the pain and sorrow. It may be kind of hard to with the Nephro as you have to be under the care of whatever Nephro administers your dialysis, but you definitely can find a caring PCP. You may have to research, but you can choose your PCP.

whenever you are feeling down, always reach out to us in this community !! We are here for YOU to help you get through this, and you WILL be ok !!! You are loved dear Sal !!!

i just found that controlling how much i ate or drank got a lot to do with how i felt on or after dialysis.most time I ate very little in the morning ,(occasionally even nothing in the morning),I skipped lunch, will have a early dinner, that's all. That 's my personal experience. Hope you doing well. Oh,I try to eat as little sweet as possible.I can't eat like i used to, that'll put me over my dry weight two and half or three kilos above.
