Thanks for all the replies. I wasn't asking for medical advice. Since there is so much debate about the safety of statins for those with CKD especially those in Stage 5, I just wanted to check with fellow CKD patients to see what you're on and how you did on it. Just because it worked/didn't work for you doesn't mean the same for me, but if many of you used something with mostly negative feedback, I'd take that as a sign to skip it. Many medications get the FDA approval and then, later on are pulled or given disclaimers do to people experiencing great many symptoms that did not come up before in testing the drug.
Thanks again. And no I don't have a cardio or Endo docs. I've seen so many specialists over the years, which can be dangerous in itself that I limit to who I see until I have to see them.
Thanks again. Happy New Year to you and yours! Stay safe. Stay warm. Regards,

A little late to respond but I do not take statins. Was prescribed them, took them for three months, felt like crap and went off. And my cholesterol went down after I went off.
Will you expound on your declining cholesterol levels? Was it because of diet and exercise?
My HDL = 64, LDL = 193 and Cholesterol is 273. My triglycerides are in normal range. I have also learned recently that those with hypothyroidism (which I have) tend to create more cholesterol. I hate statins, also making me feel cruddy, experiencing fog brain, muscles aches, etc. I also have fibromyalgia, which I believe doesn’t help. Because I have also acquired NAFLD along the way, and had heart valve and a double arterial bypass, it gives my Dr. cause to seriously push the statins. I am riding a recumbent bike for 30 minutes about 5 times per week. I am conflicted, but have pretty much made the devision to stop taking them. Any input you can give me is appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for input. I take fish oil but obviously not enough for me. I'm going back to the Dr. Dean Ornish diet from now on. Only diet out there proven to reverse heart disease.
"I've seen so many specialists over the years...". I agree totally. I have been searching for a Geriatric Doctor for a while now. Today, I told my Primary that I am tired of going to doctors. She was understanding of this. She said that, at the beginning, we start with one doctor and near the end, we want to go back to one doctor.
