Hello! My name is Tracy and while I have an EXTENSIVE medical history, I'm really wondering if anyone else struggles with chronically low magnesium. I actually have to have a 3+ hour magnesium infusion every Tuesday. My transplant is from my mom, 30 years on January 4th, 2025. I'm 52 and was diagnosed with lupus at 16 and my kidneys failed when I was 17. Received cadaveric kidney on June 24th, 1993. I didn't even have it for a year. Rejection, infection, and removal took place. I've been on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Just a note. They may or may not have told you. If you are taking myfortic, do not take magnesium supplements within two hours of the myfortic. It makes the myfortic less effective.
If you are on cyclosporine, that causes low magnesium. I am and have this issue. I take supplements twice a day. I have occasionally needed an infusion but not ongoing every week.
Hi! Not much help to you. One kidney, just stage 3. Magnesium very low but supplements all exacerbate my diarrhea. So I remain very low. Vit D is the same but I’m taking 50,000 IUs a week, just able to get it up some. Better than nothing.
